They are both girls. Our oldest was a terrible sleeper as a baby, but pretty chill personality, precocious with fine motor skills and literacy stuff, a little slow with gross mother skills. Very friendly outgoing personality, and very adaptable.</p> <p>2nd daughter: much better sleeper as an infant and sleepier/more chill baby, but she lost ALL her chill by 11 months and now she's a super emotional, quick to tantrum, very physical, very competitive child. Very fast on gross motor skills, low side of overage on literacy stuff. She's very "spirited" and very opinionated at age 2. And now she's a really crap sleeper. LO2 takes along time to warm up to people.</p> <p>Things they have in common: both very verbal and both quick to pick up songs and love singing. Both very into pretend play, both love books. She's a great kid but can wear you out - she's always talking, singing, dancing, wanting to play something, basically go go go all the time. She likes to try new things. She doesn't like to sit still.</p> <p>DS is already more independent than his big sister. He is very deliberate and can spend a really long time just examining something. He also seems like he will be a talker (he loves to "chat") but there are also times when he's happy to just sit and stare at his surroundings. </p> <p>Right now, the main way I see the difference is with food. DD just plowed into eating with no issues at all and really loved BLW. I joke that he's like an old man in a little body! It takes him awhile to warm up in new situations -- he's exactly how I was a kid. </p> <p>YDS is more outgoing and says hi to everyone when we're out somewhere. Eldest is very talkative and friendly, but very timid - it takes him a while to warm up to new things. And he's sensitive - loud noises bother him until he's used to them. He's also a people-pleaser - his love language is definitely words of affirmation! The younger is much more independent and stubborn, preferring to do things on his own and do things his own way. He's also very talkative and much more daring than his brother. Both were chill, easy babies. The older boy is super friendly and outgoing, talkative, creative, cooperative, and cautious. DS2 is only 13 months, but is more of a risk-taker, and a llittle more shy in public. He's big in stature and just rough and tumble in general... more so than my older boy. My second was that baby I had heard about who could sleep on the go as an infant, happy to watch what was happening around her. My first is a boy and he's the dog: friendly, loyal, easygoing, listens and obeys the vast majority of the time. My second is a girl and she's the cat: extremely shy and fairly stubborn, but very sly. If she doesn't want to do something, no amount of coaxing will get her to do it. Super sassy and confident in smaller familiar environments, but gets overwhelmed and overstimulated in larger settings where he doesn't know anyone. A little more emotional and high strung. Extremely curious and inquisitive. Very independent and plays well alone. Was not cuddly or affectionate as a baby and wasn't into hugging or snuggling until well into toddlerdom. Needs adequate rest and decompression time or he's a mess. Thrives on routine and stability, even though he's a boundary pusher. He was my extremely fussy colicky baby who didn't sleep for months and just screamed all the time. </p> <p>DS2 is sweet and affectionate, much more easy going and laid back, but NOT a pushover. Demands what he wants and is stubborn. Is scared of a lot more things than DS1 and cautious, but at the same time, he is my climber! Is relatively sweet and tolerable even if he's tired or missed a nap. My first LO (a girl) is fiesty, opinionated and can be hard to please. She would not sleep as a baby. She is now 5 and is still willful and shy but also super smart and friendly most of the time...but no one would describe her as easy going.</p> <p>My second (a boy) is an easy going, perpetually happy, cheerful, cooperative child. He slept! He is now 2, so he does have tantrums but overall things are much more smooth sailing with him.</p> <p>I think our parenting is the same so a lot of it is chalked up to temperament in my book. (But he did have mspi and probably was feeling very u comfortable).<br /> My second was a sweet, smiley, happy baby.</p> <p>My first as a toddler and beyond is friendly, sweet, rarely cries, active but a little cautious and fearful.<br /> My second as a toddler is friendlier than my first, cries more than my first... less fearful.. more sassy...</p> <p>Their baby personalities were worlds apart but now they are of course different from each other but not extremely so. DS is very calm, easy going, reserved, quiet boy (exacty like me and DH). A few people I know talk about how there oldest is the same way as DS and there next child is like a tornado. Is that usually how it is? </p>
