E is 6 months and nowhere near being able to stay up for 3 or 4 hours during the day. Honestly, sometimes she still barely makes it to 2! i think eventually we'll try to move to something like a 2-3-4, but for now, we're still shooting for naps at 830/9ish, noonish, and 4ish, depending on the day and how long she naps.

I don't even know anymore. We are trying to move to a 234 bit we are kinda stuck at a 2.5 2.5 3.5 right now and she is grumpy. Schedules and wake times are so hard for me to work out.

234 never worked for us because the kids couldn't make it to 4 hours. it was more like 233 which i guess is the same thing! but we did do eat play sleep, so both?

We did EASY until he was about 5 months. Then it was sort of willy nilly but he still couldn't spend more than 1.5-2 hours awake.
Now that he is 8 months we are moving towards 2-3-4. It's not always a perfect 2-3-4 and some days he still needs a third nap. But when it does work out perfectly it's AMAZING.

I tried doing WEP, but ended up bouncing baby to sleep (as we didn't CIO), around five months I gave that up and started nursing to sleep because it was so much faster. I read about 2-3-4, when he was around 6-7 months old and while I didnt live and die by the schedule, it helped me feel like i had some guideline for what i should/could be doing.

I feel like eat play sleep is mostly about not feeding to sleep. it doesn't mean you can't do ANYTHING between waking and feeding, IMO. We do both. When she was on three naps we started feeding her at 730/1130/330/730. I wasn't sure how to handle that when we switched to 2 naps but it turned out she didn't really care about unevenly spaced bottles. She now naps around 945-1115 and 245-430 most days so I just feed her whenever she wakes up, even though that means her last 2 bottles are close together. On random days if she wakes up early I just feed her when I planned to feed her and it doesn't matter if it isn't right when she wakes.

I started a 2-3-4 with continued EPS. He is often hungry in between hours and fights naps horribly. Therefore, he nurses during play time as well, but he is my only, so far.

My DS did great on a 2-3-4 (ish) nap routine from about 5.5 months, but his feeds were pretty randomly spread throughout the day til we switched to formula at 7 months.

We did WEP with the big boys and they were on a set schedule, too. They ate at set times and we did WEP in between. With G, I'd like to do 2-3-4, but he just can't make it that long yet. Honestly, 2 hours is pushing it and four would result in a very overtired little boy. I think I'm going to shoot for trying it again in a couple months.

We also did 2-3-3 once she got older and dropped her 3rd nap around 8 months. But I still did EASY. Once she got up, I nursed her and we hung out. The 2-3-3 was more for timing but it definitely wasn't a schedule!

I did both! With N it was strictly WEP, but with J we did 2-3-4 + WEP. 2-3-4 naturally fell into place for him around 6-7 months. I don't know if its possible if they're younger? A 4 hr stretch for that latter part of day would be tough for a young infant.

I'll explain how 2-3-4 worked with WEP.

Example schedule:
7 am - Wake, Eat, Play
9 am - 1st nap
10:30 am - Wake from 1st nap, eat, play
1:30 pm - 2nd nap
3 pm - Wake from 2nd nap, eat, play
7 pm - Bedtime

2 hours from wake up is 1st nap, 3 hours from 2nd wake up is 2nd nap, 4 hours from 3rd wakeup is bedtime.

We moved to 2-3-4 when she was older- like 6 months? Before that it was more getting her back to sleep within 1.5-2 hours, depending on time of day (shorter wake and long naps earlier in the day). I nursed her to sleep for the first 3-4 months too, so no eat sleep play then.

Which of these have you had success with? They seem to be completely opposite, as one requires even spacing throughout the day and the other doesn't. I have been following more of a loose eat wake sleep with little lady, but she seems to be taking long solid naps in the morning and short choppier naps in the afternoon. I am wondering if a 2-3-4 schedule may be better for her, with longer awake times in the afternoon. She goes to bed at 7 and sleeps until 3, then until 6:30 when we get up for the day, so we are doing great on nighttime sleep.

I know schedules aren't for every family, but for me I need to at least have a plan (even if I don't always stick to it) so I would love to hear about if either of these worked for you!
