Its cheaper then buying 2 cars seats, and its really nice and easy to have an extra base. We installed the nicer seat in our SUV that my husband drives to work because that's the car we take out during the weekends or whenever we're out and about. We installed the 2nd backup seat in our sedan which is the car that I take to work. We bought the backup one to install in the 2nd car for emergency purposes and I'm SO glad I did. We usually take my car, but when we take DH's car we'll just leave the base in my car and use the seat belt in DH's car to secure the car seat. We can't pass the car seat off to one another. </p>
