Both of mine sleep through everything...even the dogs barking and all. I'm sure your LO will adjust. :)

E naps through pretty much anything. So does N. I make a point to not be super quiet around them when they sleep. Our house was loud and crazy before them and hasn't slowed down. People always tell me that my kids are bomb-proof. Lol. Hope you find a solution that works for you soon.

Kind of a different situation, but my twins sleep through blood-curdling crying/tantrums all the time <3 Babies make it work.

Swing with the puppy/baby gate up, sound machine on if needed. We use the swing A LOT, just like with C when he was an infant. C likes to steal socks and blankets from E, and can be extremely rough (Mum, eyes! --> *POKE*) , so unless we are right there, he doesn't have access to the baby.

Mostly I'm more concerned/protective about the 2 year old's sleep, the infant falls asleep instantly when I wear him, I'm hoping he (#2) will be a bit more easy going than his brother (#1).

As far as crying- I deal with whoever is more vital at the time. Ouchies get priority over diapers that get priority over just being needy.

@BabyBoecksMom: oh no! Will she nap in a swing or carrier to give your arms a break?

^ much of the same. The swing was a lifesaver. He napped there pretty much exclusively until 4 months, when I started putting him in the crib with white noise. I use a convo of TV, books, and "quiet play" to distract my son while putting baby down.

In the early days we did a lot of swing naps with music and us playing in a different area or naps in the Moby. Once he needed to sleep in the crib, I would let my older one watch a DVD while I nursed baby to sleep, and then had white noise on during the nap while we played.

@Andrea: I try to let DD2 cry but she gets SO worked up that she'll throw up. I'm hoping she'll get over that soon.

I let DD2 fall asleep on her own. Sometimes she would cry for a few minutes, but I would just let her fuss it out. So I've never had to rock her/hold her to sleep. This has made my life a lot easier because DD1 can't always entertain herself for long periods of time. It depends on her mood. In the very early days, I did let her watch a TV show while I put the baby to bed! That helped me figure out our routine!

My 2 year old is very loud and hands on when it comes to my youngest, and therefore always waking her up. Coupled with her GI problems, the only way I've been able to ensure she gets a good nap in is to hold her. I know this is creating bad sleep habits, so I was wondering how other moms handled it.

Was your baby able to sleep through all the wake ups eventually? Did you hold the baby or let them cry it out while you tend to the older child(ren)?
