@Mrs Hedgehog: can you and your husband take seperate nights (one sleeping on the couch or in the guestroom?) or can the two of you split the "night" into two shifts, for example 8 pm-2am and 2 am-8 am and one of you takes one shift while the other sleeps and the other sleeps first then takes second shift?

I've done both with my husband (our LO is a crap sleeper) and now we rotate nights and one sleeps in the guestroom. I *try* to do two night in a row, since he goes to work right now and I don't--but our baby is a crap napper too, and I decided it wasn't fair for me to not sleep during the day AND not sleep at night just because I'm on Mat leave. Work or no work, humans have to sleep to function.

So now, DH takes her a lot more often. I pump, btw, so he can give her bottles. Een if you are BFing, he can take all the wakeups after LO is done eating and you can go back to sleep.

@Weagle: I should have mentioned that I did start doing that. Last week I drove around for 2 his just to get a decent nap and yesterday we went shopping so I could wear her and she would sleep. Still only got 30 minutes out of her but it was something.

My biggest frustration is night sleep. It's insane. She went from STTN to this. I start work again next week and I don't know how I going to pull 12 hour shifts on 3-4 hours of sleep. Which is what I would have had to do if I worked this morning since I have to get up at the same time she decided to go back to sleep.

11/12 weeks is a wonder week. Fortunately, this one doesn't last anywhere near as long as the 5 week one. Hang in there!!

First, I just want to say this won't be forever. It's a phase. And I know it's super annoying to hear that. It was annoying to me when my LO was tiny and wouldn't sleep. Second, you may need to try other methods. Car naps? Babywearing? At this point do what works instead of what you "should" do. I often put LO in the sling to get her to sleep and then napped in the recliner. She was still being held and I got a nap too.

DD is 11 weeks and lately has decided that she won't sleep unless we are holding her. Even then it is a fight to get her to that point. Naps are pretty much non-extant. She will sleep for maybe 10 min at a time. And that is if I am lucky enough to be able to put her down. She will only fall asleep while nursing. At night it is hell too. She slept for 3 1/2 hours after fighting to get her to sleep, them was up for the next 4 fighting us because she only wanted to sleep in our arms. After 4 hours the only way I could get her back down was to nurse to sleep again. She woke up 3 hours later. I am exhausted. I only getting around 4 hours of sleep at night because it takes me so long to fall back asleep. More than that, though, I'd in the last 24 She only got 8 hours. That isn't good for an 11 week old! I don't know what to do! She is swaddled. She fights it going to sleep but sleeps less without it. She wakes up insanely easily so it's not like I can wait until she is asleep to swaddle her. I can't even lay her in her crib!

Help!
