K has always wanted to "stand up" too! She HATES being carried, laying on her back, but always wants to be held upright. Only recently (4 months), I've let her put more pressure on her legs because I was scared it would hurt her in some way too. But she's always pushing off with her legs, hates tummy time, and kicks me too!

My son did this too. He was always a strong baby. Crawled at 6 months, and was walking unassisted by 9 months. You probably have a little go getter on your hands.

DD was the same way. She loved to stand at a very early age. She was born with really sturdy legs. This is the reason why we bought her a jumperoo and introduced it early (she was on a few pillows since she couldn't touch the ground).

@LazyLightning: yes! My LO loooooves standing, and he will be 3 months tomorrow. It's part of our routine to stand him up on the changing table after dressing him and he likes to stomp his foot a few times. :) he loves being upright and facing out to see the world!

@Weagle: I think there is a reflex for this, yes. That being said though, at 15 weeks, A wants to stand all the time. Straightens his legs in the carrier too, not pushing against anything. He thinks sitting is lame.

@LazyLightning: Mine definitely did this! He was always happiest while standing. In our case, it wasn't an indication that he would be an early walker, etc. :)

@LazyLightning: YES! one of my co-workers made a comment about how it would harm is ankles (? um okay) but he was doing this from a verrry early age.
He started pulling to stand at 7 months, was walking around holding onto things within a month of that and started walking around 10.5/11 months. He's always been a really active kid!

Funny thing, he always hated tummy time and facing in while in a carrier, and I think it's because he was missing the action. He's always been all about moving-moving-moving and seeing everything there is to see, lol

First off, I do know she can't actually stand up and won't walk for 8-12 more months. She can't even hold up her own head for more than several seconds... yet.

But the last week or so, she likes to push up HARD with her legs when she's sitting on our laps. Wants us to hold her in this standing position, and will make leg motions like 'bouncing' (bend knees, put weight on legs, repeat). She hates to just sit on my lap, even while eating she'll try to push her legs out and 'stand'. I have to sit her in a way so that her feet can't find purchase, otherwise she's launching herself up and back all the time.

Anyone else's kid do this? It's like she suddenly found her legs, right around 6.5 weeks, and she wants to do *something* with them!
