Theme parks really wear me out. I can't even imagine going with a 2 month old! If it's nice and cool and you plan on just walking around leisurely for a couple of hours I don't think it's a big deal taking your LO.

I probably wouldn't do it just because it would be kind of a pain & probably really hot. If you have a great team who can help you & if you are good at nursing in a carrier/in public, it might be okay. Good luck!

I agree with others...I just wouldn't find it very fun! But I also have a 3 month old who naps poorly when we are out and about and I know he would be a cranky mess if we were at an amusement park! I would be worrying all day about his lack of sleep, the heat and everything in general.

Funny enough, my DH and I were talking about this the other day and how it would suck to never be able to go on a ride together (unless we went with a group)!

I would be OK with it, only because I used to work at Disneyland and I've seen tons of parents take newborns to the park. Plus, 2 month-olds are free. haha.

@mrsbells. I would always have a stroller and a carrier. I have four kids and they all reacted differently. My oldest road in the stroller no problem. He loved it. My twins sat in the front facing carriers we had and napped in their stroller. My daughter wants to be carried always and hates every type of carrier I have tried. That's the worst because by the end of the day my arm is usually tired. Having the stroller with you is good for storage.

You can check whatever amusement park you are going to, but Disneyland has a baby care center. You can go in and nurse or they have little toddler toilets and stuff. Most of the time I jus sit on a bench and nurse but I did go in there with my twins. It's hard to tandem nurse with modesty. But with my singles I just nursed where ever. If we were in a longer line I just did it while we were waiting in line.

For heat I just made sure I drank a ton of water and monitored it carefully I set a reminder on my phone to have a bottle every hour. I know that may seem silly but when you are chasing three toddlers while nursing an infant I have to remind myself of things like that. I also kept them out of direct sun and we have a mister bottle. It's the squirt bottle with a fan. That helps a little. They also have uv swim suits that you could use to help prevent sun exposure.

I don't think taking a 2 month old to a theme park is a bad idea. I don't think the exposure is a huge risk. If she was a premie or had any other health/immue issues, then I wouldn't but otherwise I think it's fine. I think taking public transportation (bus, train or plane) is a bigger risk, as is going to the doctor's office.

Personally, I would probably have gone if the opportunity came up to go with family or something. But I got out of the house a lot, even if it was just to the mall or the store. I went stir crazy if I stayed home more than 1 or 2 days in a row. So I was used to nursing on the fly and doing diaper changes anywhere. That age is probably much more preferable to an older baby/young toddler, who would be more alert and demanding, but still unable to partake in any rides, etc...

I voted no because of all the reasons listed above. It'll probably be a bit uncomfortable for the baby and you, plus at that age, you'll be doing lots of diaper changes and feeds. I don't know how much fun it'll be. =\ And I would feel a bit concerned about germ exposure at that age (but I'm a germophobe so I'd be scared about germ exposure at that age in any public place).

We took our LO to the grocery on the way home from the hospital (I kept her in her infant seat and kept the sunshade pulled over her and we shopped really quick), she went to other public places starting at about 1 week and then to church starting at 3 weeks (always in her infant carrier with one of us right with her).

@Mrs.Bells-check with the amusement park because the one by me will allow anyone to check into first aid in order to get out of the heat or just rest for a little while (or in our case let LO take a nap) plus they also have an air conditioned child care center that was great for getting away from the crowds as well as a quiet nursing area and baby changing area.

thanks everyone for your input I'll have to think about the heat factor.
@Oceanis723: when you go to disneyland do you carry your LO in a carrier or do you take a stroller?

I agree with the heat comment. It doesn't sound comfortable for the LO, and if they get cranky, that kind of ruins everyone else's experience.

I took LO into public places after her 2 month shots. But I agree with the others, I just don't think it would be that fun for me. You can barely do anything, it's hot, and I feel like I'd wait in a 2 hour line and the second we get to the front LO would poop or something.

I wouldn't be worried about the germs at that point. I just feel like it wouldn't be that fun to be in the hot sun with a baby? Not unless the weather will be pleasant by you in a month.

@Mrsbells: I personally don't think you'd be exposing her to too many germs as long as you don't let random strangers come over and touch her but I imagine you are already on top of that. I'd still say no thanks to the theme park though. Maybe I was too tired at that point but being out and about for a long day in the heat would have been miserable for me at 2 months post partum.

I just edited my post to add that I'm not paying for the ticket, it would be free. I do have a nursing cover so I'm not worried about feeding her, I just dont know if I'm exposing her to too many germs too early?

I would choose not to take my 2 month old to a theme park but not for exposure reasons so much as I wouldn't want to pay the crazy entrance fee and then just walk around in the heat trying to keep baby cool, finding a quiet and private place to nurse, etc. If you aren't nursing or you don't mind nursing in public, then that shouldn't be a problem for you. Also, if you live somewhere where it isn't already hot then maybe that isn't an issue for you either. I just know that I don't like paying the price theme parks tend to cost when I do ride the rides and such so I would balk at paying that price to watch other people do things while I stayed with baby.

I am going to ask y pediatrician but I just wondered would you take your two month old to a theme park? my baby is just over a month old and so far the only places she has been to is the doctors office and weekly rides in the car. The hospital advised me not to take her to public places like the mall in the first few weeks but I'm wondering if 2 months is too early to go to a theme park? Its about 1.5 hour drive away from us.

ETA: I would get a free ticket so I wouldnt have to pay for the entrance.
