We were in the same position! I would just keep lettingLO rest in the afternoon while sloooooooowly pushing back the morning nap. Like, 5 mins a day. Try to avoid car rides during that "stretch" time if you can! And then just roll with it if you need to do an earlier bedtime. I think it's totally fine to keep offering that afternoon rest until you get the morning nap to an 11(ish) start time! It tools good 4 months for us

We did something a little different than what people normally do - we kept DS' morning nap, but dropped the afternoon one. He did the same thing, stopped taking his afternoon nap, but was happy with his morning nap. Is your DD fine with being awake from the end of her morning nap until bedtime? DS was (and still is), so this schedule works well for us. He now naps from 9:30 or 10 until noon or so (he's nearly 2.5 years old).

He goes to afternoon preschool, so this schedule is ideal for him for that reason too.

Try stretching her morning wake time by a half hour and then an hour and limit the nap to an hour max, and see what happens . At 16m, they're usually supposed to be able to go about 3.5-4 hrs between naps, with the longest stretch being before bedtime. Our schedule with 2 naps was 10-11 and 2-3, but if your LO continues to refuse the 2nd nap, keep stretching the morning time until she seems more comfortable with a longer time span and you should be able to transition her to one nap. It's a long and difficult transition so take your time.

We had to transition LO at 10 months because he was doing the same thing. We actually extended bedtime to a bit later, which made him sleep a little later...that made it easier to keep him up in the morning, and then he would go to sleep around 12/12:30. So we definitely had to move lunch up. I would also put him down within a half hour of eating lunch...that made him much sleepier. He would give me 3 hours!

So we're also at 16 months and also having transition issues, mainly because I also don't want to push my 6 am riser until noon for his only nap (if we wakes up 7 or later I have done so, it's just not consistent). However, I will say that I never let him sleep more than an hour in the morning -- sometimes even only 45 minutes. That's to preserve the afternoon nap. Otherwise, yeah, he won't fall asleep without a major fight. But doing that, he'll still take it. Still, on two naps he's in bed later (8 or even later) than I would like.

I'm new here and would love some help from fellow mamas! I think my 16mo DD is ready to transition from 2 naps a day to 1, but I'm having major difficulties…She currently sleeps from 6:30pm-6am (on average) she gets so sleepy in the mornings and is so hard to keep up past 9am. So she will take a good am nap from about 9-10:30. Then she will get really tired again in the afternoon around 1:30-2. I will try to put her down and she won't fall asleep. She is fine with a little quiet time in her crib for about 30 min or so, but hasn't fallen asleep in the afternoon for over a week. Any tips?! PLEASE!
