I'm due in May and I'll have 2 boys that are 20 months apart! I would be terrified (both about having 2 under 2 and having 2 boys) but I take some comfort in the fact that DH and his brother are basically 23 months apart. DH says he doesn't ever remember a time without his brother as a kid and that he always had someone to play with. They DID tear the house apart, so I'm sure that was hard on MIL, but she loves to talk about how close they were growing up and how she could usually throw them into the same activity. Her favorite story is how one night the boys were asleep on the same hotel bed and one of them started murmuring nonsense in his sleep and the other one responded in similar gibberish and they carried on this nonsensical sleep conversation for several minutes. DH and I live far away from our families, but he still talks to his brother every week or so on the phone and they're close enough in age where we all got married and had kids around the same time so they're always comparing notes on our sons and what not.

My boys are 16 months apart and the best of friends. For the first 6-8 months of DS2's life DS1 would refer to him as "baby" instead of his name and it might have been the cutest thing ever. To this day every morning when DS1 wakes up his first question is "where's DS2"?

I had the same fears about not having enough love to go around but the love just multiplies. It's great to see them so close and to witness the bond they form.

Congrats!

My first 2 are 2.5 years apart and I don't think it really matters spacing wise, most moms have these doubts. It will be okay though!!

My SIL had 2 under 2, only like 20 months apart. I can tell you from watching her that it's definitely really hard some days, but from what I can observe about the oldest, he doesn't really care that much. Yes, someone will usually be left crying, that's probably the nature of having more than 1 kid, however far apart they are (I have a friend that has 4 years apart, and the old one still gets jealous/throw fits).

I am sure you are going to be great!!

Congratulations! I must say my feelings mirrored yours throughout my second pregnancy. We always knew we wanted a second and it just happened so much sooner than I expected and my first was still a baby. Even in the hospital I had a mini breakdown with the LC about how could I love my second as much as my first? And things did change with my relationship with my older DS and with all the hormones I was sad about it but it was just an adjustment period. I love both my boys more than I could ever have imagined and their relationship with each other is amazing. I love how close they are and how much they love each other. We are expecting our third now and my younger will be 28 months when s/he arrives and it makes me nervous that they are too far apart in age, which is totally ridiculous. But I really do love having them so close in age. I'm sure it will be wonderful for your family too!

DD was 14 months when we got pregnant and now we are nearing the due date (March 25) and she is definitely a little girl now as opposed to a baby! Also, people I know who are close in age to their siblings don't remember s time without them... In a lot of ways I think that makes the transition easier of LO1! Congratulations, mama!

Our DS & DD1 are 21 months apart and I love it. There were some hard moments but honestly, DS doesn't remember life without DD. Now we are expecting DD2 in a few weeks and DS has been asking a lot more questions and is much more aware that there's going to be a change, which is fine, but it's harder to hear him asking "Will you still do this with me when baby is here?" Congrats! It really is a great age gap and we love it. Our DDs will be 25 months apart.

Having 2 under 2 is the best!! It's really the most amazing thing seeing my sweet babies be best friends and all day try and find the other. They have to be next to each other all day. Our spacing is a little different but for us they are almost close enough that I can just raise them the same. They both nap together, sleep together, eat together, bathe together, have play dates together. I mean I know when they get old enough they will want some space, but for now while they like it we will keep it this way. Congrats!!!

Congraulations! I've heard that when getting pregnant with your second, a lot of moms feel like they don't have enough room in their heart to love another baby as much as their first. But then their second is born and their heart just expands! Your LO will be 2 by the time your new baby comes and won't be such a baby anymore! I bet she will love being able to "help" out and take care of her new baby brother or sister! Wishing you a happy and healthy 9 months!

We love having 2 under 2! It was really hard at first but I really think that it'll be the easiest spacing from the littlest one crawling on! Our son just turned 1 (my daughter is 29 months) and they can already play together, entertain each other, etc. Plus they'll be in the same schools most every year and can participate in some of the same rec activities.

We have the same spacing and I remember thinking, "but I still have a baby..." But a pregnancy takes a long time in toddler development terms, and by the end LO1 wasn't a baby anymore and I was ready for a new little bitty one.

I loved having 2 under 2. My 2 are BFF's. I think it would be WAY harder having a toddler now and a newborn. OMG, scary actually. Two toddlers though runs me ragged but they are fun!

 We knew we wanted another and were TTC Sooo we are sooo excited!

But.....today as DD is getting over being sick I couldn't help but think how little she still is and it made me sad :(
I don't want her to feel replaced and such, silly I know but then I thought, will I love this baby as much as her?!
I know I will and I can't wait to begin this pregnancy journey and include my LO!
