I am dealing with crap naps from my just barely 2 year old. I think part of the problem for us is sleeping in too late. Another is that I have a newborn and it is too cold to go outside so he doesn't burn off enough energy. Any suggestions for limiting screen time and burning off energy in the house?

Thanks everyone. Sounds like exactly what I am dealing with. today took her over an hour to pass out so I guess I will just let her be and see if she falls asleep or not!

My son has had off and on nap struggles since just before age 2. I keep reinforcing quiet time and leave him there for 1.5 - 2 hours. I used to put him down around 12:30/12:45 and now put him down at 1/1;15 and it seems to help (he is up at 6:30/7). Some days he will play in his crib for 2 hours and not nap. Other days he falls asleep and sleeps 2.5 hours. I don't really know why. When he doesn't nap he goes to bed 30 mins-1 hr earlier and usually naps the next day. If I think he's really overtired I will force a car nap, but try not to do it often. He is 2.5.

I can't get my son to nap at home unless we go for a car ride. But somehow, at daycare he naps every day! I think the peer pressure wins!

2 years on the 26th and yep! Definitely struggling. Especially on weekends when daddy is home (because daddy is awesome). Yesterday, he didn't sleep until 2. Today he went down…hard…at noon. On occasion we skip naps, but I still force it if at all possible. It's way too early to drop the nap.

DS is going through a phase of shitty naps. He'll be 2 in less than two weeks. I think it's a combo of teething + his awake time lengthening. This past weekend it was 50 minutes a day hit or miss. Thankfully he still slept all night. We're just letting it pass through. He's definitely not ready to drop it altogether, so FX that it lengthens too.

HIGH*FIVE Solidarity mama, :goodluck:

Anyone struggle with your two year old and naps? Seems like I put her down early, and she doesn't want to nap. If I put her down later, same thing. She could spend hours just sitting in her crib which seems like its good "quiet time", but is then exhausted all afternoon. I know some people say its time to take the nap away, but she still shows signs of exhaustion and crankiness if she doesn't nap!
