@bookwormmama: I was thinking (hoping?) this might just be a phase, too, since she's always been hit hard by sleep regressions. I didnt see much about this particular age when I googled, however.

We've been struggling with bedtime for the past couple weeks as well. My son will be 3 in March. He mostly stays asleep once asleep, but it's taking 1-2 hours for him to go to sleep with us constantly going in and out of the room. We started cutting down the amount I rock him before bed because even if I rocked him for 30 minutes he wouldn't go to sleep. So I rock for 15 minutes then put him down. Then he usually calls for DH and he goes in. I think he rocks him for 5-10 more minutes and lays him down and tells him we won't come in anymore. Sometimes he still calls out but we just tell him "it's night-night time" without going into the room. He's been falling asleep much quicker and has been complaining less and less. But this seems like a cyclical thing...he will have months where he goes right to bed, then a month or two where it takes hours.

When my son only naps 1.5-2 he goes down really easily...he usually naps 2.5-3 hours, but I always make sure he's awake by 4:15. He goes to bed at 8:30 and wakes up around 7-7:30. He's very high energy so I think he sleeps a lot to make up for it. I think I remember him having a lot more of a struggle going down during the winter (especially December) last year too. I wonder if the sunlight difference causes an issue with them?

My 2.5 year old has also been fighting bedtime a bit more than usual lately. I think she's just starting to realize that she has more fun awake. She does everything and anything to stall and is very creative. I've had to be pretty firm about not adding in extra things and sticking to our routine... I have noticed though if she's bored of the books I'm reading it's even tougher so I try to switch them up pretty often. Also the happiest toddler on the block books advice of repeating simple phrases over and over seems to work pretty well for getting her to accept stuff . So 'it's dodo time now, it's dodo time now' @Rocker2014:

LO is 26 months old and has had a pretty consistent bedtime routine start time of about 8pm, with sleep around 8:30-8:45pm for most of her life. Full disclosure, she's never been great at staying asleep, but falling asleep has never been much of an issue, our routines are pretty solid at home and daycare. However, for the past week or so LO hasn't been falling asleep until 9:15 or 9:30ish or later. She's not particularly grumpy, just mischievous and needs me to stay in the room with her or she freaks out. Despite the holidays, naps have been pretty consistent - usually 1 1/2 -2 hours between 1-3pm. Wake up times remain consistent too, around 6:45 or 7am.

Anyone else go through this? Suggestions? Is she napping too long? I've been pretty sick and this nightly battle is draining my small energy resources!
