@Ajsmommy: I've got a hatchback Versa and I LOVE IT. I'm going to be so sad when it is time to get a new car in a few years. It's our only car so we put a lot of miles on it and I think in about three years we will need a new one since we will be close to 200k miles.

I would not do a 2015 Nissan Versa. They are a lot smaller than the one that I have (2011 Versa). We test drove a Mazda 5 and I wanted to love it so much but I couldn't do a RF carseat behind the driver since my legs are so long. Ironically, I have more leg room in my Versa than I did in the Mazda5.

But between those two, I'd pick the Mazda5. And with the third row up, you will have very little trunk space and it's uncomfortable for an adult to fit back there (I fit my 28 week pregnant self in there and it was TIGHT).

Our Nissan Versa was teeny tiny. So tough to do just one car seat in it. I'd go for the Mazda 5.

I love my Mazda5! Sliding doors and lots of back storage (with third row flat) at a car price! I think it drives well, front seats are comfy, etc. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles (like auto sliding doors - at least my 2014 doesn't) but I think it's a great value.

I've never had 2 RF seats though, my kids were far apart enough to be flipped before the next. I don't have any problem with my 2yo in a RF seat - he sits behind me - but I'm not super tall or anything. I do think with 2 RF the third row is basically useless for passengers, but I very rarely use mine for passengers right now anyway - it's almost always down for storage.

The third row is really short on legroom because you're supposed to put the captain chairs all the way back when you use car seats in them. It's doable for a smaller person. I'm hoping if we have a third we can keep the Mazda5 and put my oldest back there and keep the littler kids in the front. I do think it will feel cramped with a family of 5 and cargo like groceries, but I really don't want to pay for a minivan upgrade!

Ok that was super rambly so just let me know if you have any questions on the car

Between the 2, I'd totally go for the Mazda5 for the sliding door! We almost bought one until we found a great deal on a minivan. My brother has a Mazda6 that's like 12 years old and still runs like a dream.

I'm sorry about your accident. I currently have a Mazda CX-5 and had a Mazda 3 previously. I really love Mazdas. They get great gas mileage, are comfortable to ride in, and the trunk space is more generous than it looks.

My car got totaled today. It sucks emotionally and financially but at least physically everyone is ok. We need to buy a new car ASAP and I was wondering your thoughts.

LO is 12m, in a Graco Extend-2-Fit, hoping another baby in a year or so in a Chicco Keyfit 30, no 3rd baby until 2020 at least (who knows, right?) Thoughts on these cars in regards to car seat safety / options, and drivability? My main concern is fitting two RF car seats.

2015 Nissan Versa
2015 Mazda5
*Also considering another 2015 Nissan Altima.... that is our other car and we love it.

The car that got totaled was a 2012 Toyota Yaris and we liked it a lot - great gas mileage, etc., but it would be really cramped with 2 car seats.

PS I hate driving. Anyone else?
