@lawbee11: Hehe, it looks like we posted at the same time. I got sticker-shocked when I saw those prices. It really does look like an awesome getaway/girls night out location.

Ouch! I just checked the rates for Cosmo and over $200 a night (thanks to the resort fees) is more than I want to spend for just sleeping in  But those views do look amazing - it looks like a place to stay for a girls night out.

@SugarplumsMom: The Cosmo is cool, but it's not somewhere I would think to stay with LO if I didn't gamble and basically just wanted a place to crash. It's very trendy and I'd totally stay there with DH or on a girls' getaway, but I think the resort fees are crazy and would be even crazier if you weren't planning to use the amenities anyways. The pool is nice and the location is good, but I don't really think of it as family-friendly like some of the other options. Just my two cents!

@erinbaderin: @MrsKoala: @youboots: @mrswilson2012: Wow, Cosmo definitely won the popular vote! I'm going to check out the rates.

@lawbee11: We don't gamble  Honestly, we're flying to Vegas because it's one of the only places we can flight direct from our place. It'll cut our travel time in half (it's a new route), plus allow us to be zombies before visiting family. I'm definitely going to look into your recommendations.

I like Aria and Paris for location and price. Paris can be really inexpensive (which is why I like it) and the rooms are pretty standard (not fancy but clean) but the location is excellent and my favorite location on the strip for the price. I really like Aria, it can be more pricey depending on the day but if it's a weekday it shouldn't be too costly. Cosmo might be nice for a suite and it's very popular with the bachelorette crowd but I'm not a huge fan of their casino or sportsbook personally. So I also prefer Aria because the crowd isn't quite so young it seems. Great buffet as Cosmo though. My husband likes poker so their favorite places to go for that are aria, bellagio, and the wynn so we usually end up hanging around bellagio and aria.

Vdara has no casino and no smoking...that's the only one I know of with no smoking.

Second @erinbaderin: on the Cosmopolitan. Awesome views if you get on the Bellagio side and they have great balconies that you can hang out on and watch the fountain go. It's right on the strip and central to basically everything. The Cosmo has a lot of varied dining including Secret Pizza, which was some of the best pizza I've had outside of New York. The pool is pretty nice as well.

I stayed at the MGM Grand last year. I thought it was just fine. I'm not usually picky with hotels though. There was a casino in the hotel.

I booked through expedia and bundled it with our flights and got a really good deal that way.

Do you want to stay at a hotel with a casino? There are a couple of family-friendly resort-ish type places just off the strip (Holiday Inn Desert Club Resort and Wyndham Grand Desert), but they don't have casinos. I think they both have two-bedroom condos with kitchen, washer/dryer, etc. I haven't stayed at either but we're planning to stay at one of them when we go this summer with kids (on our way to the Grand Canyon). They also don't charge the crazy resort fees that the casinos do, and I believe both provide transportation to the strip.

Cosmopolitan. The majority of the rooms are suites, which is great if some of you are sleeping and some of you aren't but are stuck in the room. It's right in the middle of the strip, there's a mall right across the street and the Bellagio is right next door for convenient fountain viewing. And they have a really great pizza place open late for snacks.

I'm looking for a clean, smoke-free room to crash in while we cope with massive jet-lag. Affordable and preferably on the strip. I don't really care about the other amenities.

It's been a long, long time since I've been to Vegas and although I've never been disappointed with the rooms, after searching reviews online, I'm now scared! It seems like a few places haven't been updated at all. We'll be traveling with a 4-yr old, so my #1 concern is cleanliness and the room quality. I'm guessing we'll be in the room for good majority of the time because of the huge (9 hr) time difference. I figured that being on the strip would be a good thing for a little late night wandering.

If anyone's been to Vegas within the last year or two. Please recommend a hotel. Thank you!
