I would inspect the area and then if it seems fine kiss it. Kissing is the cure all for boo boos here.

My LO has really been playing up "boo boos" lately to get a kiss. LOL
But if she kept referring to the same spot I would definitely investigate!

My 22-month-old talks about things hurting, too. I usually try to investigate, kiss it to make it better, or try to soothe her in some way. Sometimes things actually hurt and sometimes she pretends based on something she saw me or DH do.

She's been complaining about the toe for a couple weeks now, and I've tried gently squeezing it and moving it and it doesn't seem to elicit a response, though the toenail was a little cracked the other week.

I'm alittle worried about the back because she's also said her tummy hurts a couple times. The past two days she's talked about going "poo poo" then cries and whines a little about her tummy hurting so I'm worried she's constipated. I'm trying to sneak fiber in her when I can but since she won't touch veggies it's difficult!

I agree with MRBEE! I would touch the toe and say "hmmm its not red...look I can bend it.... does that hurt? " then kiss it and ask her how it feels?

Another thought could be she heard someone else say "My back hurts" while grabbing their back so she is just copying them?

My LO (nearly same age) does this. I do think she's being honest when she says her mouth or teeth hurt, because she has canines coming in. With the others, I ask her if a hug or kiss from mom or dad would help. Magically, it almost always does :silly:

I would put a bandaid on it! And do a physical exam (pressing gently on the area and the area around it) to see if there's a pain response...

DD is 21 months old and recently has started saying things "hurt." Like her big toe and her mouth. This morning she was also pointing to her back. This sounds bad, but I'm not sure how much I believe her. I mean, I'm not sure she really grasps the meaning of something hurting. The mouth I attribute to the possibility that she's getting her molars. But the toe and back....I'm just not sure. She's otherwise fine, so I'm not sure if it's worth calling the doctor. What would you do?
