@winniebee: girl, we must be living in the same house. 22 months, and "go away mama", kicking, saying "I can't" and "no" to everything I say, even when I know it is what he wants. I feel like I literally counted the minutes til bedtime tonight. No advice - just empathy.

This is where we are at right now! We don't know what to do. Timeouts don't work. Ignoring doesn't work. I just...it sucks right now

That is exactly what we are going through right now at almost 22 months. Everything is "no no no no no!", "miiiiiine!" or "stooooop!". Nothing I do makes her happy if it isn't what she wants.

B never tells me to go away but he gets mad when I don't pay attention to him. If he's playing with something and sees I'm not paying attention he will yell at me and demand me to come sit with him("momma here now"). He HATES my phone, he takes it away from me and wants to "call dad".

Oh gosh yes. Hourly reminders that she is her own person and not a robot that I can control. Some days are better than others, but our strong-willed little girl is giving me a run for my money!

Ever since T turned 22 months he has been more defiant, less cooperative, and kind of mean (telling me to go away all the time, swatting at me). Everything takes forever to do with him and he is only content when he has his way. What happened to my sweet boy? It coincided with when we went away without him for a few days. But we have been back for 2 weeks and it's only gotten worse.

Don't get me wrong we have had rough patches before (15-18 months....) but this seems worse since he is asserting more independence.

Anyone else? Terrible 2s starting early?
