@edelweiss: He still naps at day care, but he's refusing to nap at home. Unfortunately dropping it at day care isn't really an option right now. But I do think he still needs it. I should add that he's obviously exhausted - he's falling asleep in the car at 9am. That hasn't happened since he was an infant. I agree with you - so tiring and so frustrating!

my son is a little over 2 and i chalked up his recent sleep regression to cognitive development (he has started talking a lot more). it is rough, and i feel for you, especially since you're pregnant and need as much rest as possible!

is he still taking a nap? one idea is maybe he's ready to drop it? if not, and this is just a phase, i would try as much as possible to be firm and not engage him when he wakes up. with my LO, even saying "good night love you" was an inch that he stretched into a mile. it's harsh, but when he wakes up and cries at the door, i open the door, say firmly "go back to bed", put his blanket back on (if i don't do this he starts screaming like i stabbed him), and then leave. no hugs, pats, kisses or other talk.

regressions are so, so, so tiring and confounding.

Does he already have his 2 year molars? My son has had some off nights (he is 2.5) and his top molars are just now coming through. He hasn't really been restless since daylight savings though.

Anyone else? This is brutal. He's always been an awesome sleeper and is still falling asleep no problem, but since he turned 2.5 two weeks ago, sleep has just completely gone down the drain. For 4 of the last 7 nights he's averaged 5-6 hours of sleep total. Awake by midnight and never really goes back to sleep. And refuses to nap. I'm sure you can all imagine what this means behavior-wise. I just have no idea what to do. We've even tried co-sleeping but no luck. He just wants to play. To add to it, I'm 32 weeks pregnant and really need some sleep
