@shopaholic: I am not ready for her to give up naps! Haha.

@Alivoo01: I hate that you are going through this too but it's good to have some company! :)

@travellingbee: That sounds rough! I think it's worse when it goes from good to bad because you know they're capable of sleeping well.

@AprilFool: LO trained us to ignore her cries. Once she weaned if we did get up and go in to comfort her she never went back to sleep. Didn't matter if it was 3am or midnight, she was up for the day. It didn't take too long to train us to leave her alone.

I thought of something else we changed recently, LO decided she wanted to sleep with the light on. I don't think it's a good sleep habit but it does give us another thing to take away if she doesn't settle down. I.e. stay in your bed quietly or I'll turn the light off.

my son (march birthday so almost 29 mos now) goes to bed around 6:30p (but probably falls asleep closer to 7:30), wakes up around 6:30a, and naps from 12:30-2:30p. this has been his schedule for awhile now (like maybe since we went to one nap? I don't even remember when that was)

sleep begets sleep is definitely true for him. we had a temporary setback last month when we moved to a toddler bed & he was having a bunch of wakeups and escapes but after putting his crib back he is back to sleeping happily through the night and naps. I don't think he was quite ready for all of that power. :silly:

he has always had decently high sleep needs so for us, pushing bedtime or nap out has always backfired.

DS is 25 months and we're dealing with the exact same thing. Numerous wake ups at night like a newborn baby. It's been going on for 2 weeks now. DH and I are completely exhausted.

Like you, we've tried shorter and longer naps, giving him extra meal right before bed (just in case), etc. and nothing is helping. Ahhhh!!!

Hope this phase passes soon for us. Or if you find out what's going on or found something that works for you, please, please, please, let me know!!

She takes an hour to fall asleep most nights, no matter what time we put her down. Last week she asked to go to bed (which never happens) at 6:45, I was out of her room at 7:10 and it was 9:00 before she went to sleep. Lately it is 8:30/9:00 before she is asleep. She is then up between 6:30-7:30. Naps are around 1.5 hours.

I don't think it is enough sleep but nothing we do seems to work. She will sleep 12 hours at night, when it finally catches up with her.

@SeptMomma12: nope. I found her asleep on the floor last night with toys around her, lol. I generally follow the idea that when it's bedtime, we don't go in until morning. It has to be pretty extenuating circumstances (otherwise I feel like it rewards her)

DS is 35 months but has had the same sleep pattern since 22 months or so.
Up @ 6/6:30am
Nap @ 1:30-3pm
Bed @ 8:30pm

He usually averages around 11.5 each day, never more unless he's sick.

@blackbird: Was there a trick to getting E to stay in her bed for the hour it takes her to fall asleep? We're having a horrible time with DS right now. He was up til 10 last night and then up every hour from 1-4am :crying:

@AprilFool: we are doing OK with naps but his night time has gotten all screwy. He's push d his bedtime back further and further and now will not fall asleep before 9 and makes a big fuss about going to bed. Then he wakes before midnight. We've never been able to ignore him as his cries get more and more hysterical over time. He won't just go back on his own. We're getting very frustrated as we were finally in a good place and now another regression. :(

@AprilFool: I think even if they aren't verbal, they can learn that blue=bedtime and yellow=mom and dad. E *just* learned her colors (and consistently gets them right now) but he surely understands more than he can say.

We're at 28 months right now. I've heard the average age for giving up naps is 2.5. We have friends who've stopped naps at 2 and others still going strong at 4! DD sleeps ~8.5-9.5 hours overnight. Naps 1.5-2.5hrs most days. I'd say 11 hours total - which seems less than average (but she's always clocked less than avg.)

It could be your LO is ready to give up naps, but every nap/sleep transition we've had came with a rough 1-2 months transition period with less sleep overall. :(

@blackbird: I have considered one of those clocks but H isn't very verbal so I don't know if it would work?

@Corduroy: We would just ignore her overnight if we didn't share a very thin wall.

My LO goes to bed around 8pm and gets up about 5:30. Her "OK to wake clock" is set for 6am. She usually cries out at least once per night but we ignore it. She's taking one 2 hour nap. It's 12-2 at daycare but usually 2-4 on the weekends.

We put E to bed at 7:30. She falls asleep within an hour, I'd say? She's in there until about 6:30/7:00 am. I know she wakes at night because she's fallen off her bed or moved all her stuff to the floor, but she doesn't come get us. We did buy her a Tot Clock to help her differentiate times of day and it is GENIUS. She takes about a 1-2 hour nap after lunch around 12:30

What did sleep look like for your toddler at 28 months? What time and how long were naps/bedtime? We are having huge issues and I don't know what to do. LO is waking multiples times a night and barely napping. I have tried early and later bedtimes/naps. She wakes at night whether she has no nap/good nap/crap nap so there's no obvious cause to fix there. If I don't get her down early enough she won't nap at all, too early and the same thing. I am losing my mind!
