From my clinic: 1) bigger baby gets, less he/she fits in the space and movement does decrease
BUT
2) If something feels wrong-- GO TO THE DOCTOR! Apparently "feeling wrong" can be a really good indicator.

I had that happen one day and was really nervous (about to call my OB), but I had some juice, shook my belly a bit and laid on my side. That woke her up. My OB has me checking for movement between meals (did she move between breakfast and lunch?, lunch and dinner? after dinner?). If I miss one of those, I'm supposed to relax and lay down so I can pay attention and then do a kick count (I might have been too busy and missed the movement).
Hope everything turned out!

What did the midwife have you do? Like @msmini said, my OB and all the L&D nurses told me that they would prefer you to come in 100% of the time when you think there is reduced fetal movement. I went to L&D at 30, 32, and 34 or 36 weeks because of reduced movement. Please PLEASE do not ever hesitate to go get looked at when you think there is reduced movement.

My doc told me to lie down and do a kick count for an hour or 2. I think @artbee is correct, should be about 10. Change of position always seems to wake up my LO!

All the LDR nurses I work with have told me that they would rather have 100 false alarms of decreased fetal movement than have 1 person hesitate to come in if they are concerned in the least. It takes no time at all for them to hook you up to a monitor and make sure all is okay. I think if ever you have doubt you should just go in and be checked.

there were days when i felt the babies all the time and others where i didn't feel much. so it may be normal. but if you haven't talked to your midwife yet, i'd check how many movements your baby's doing in a span of 2 hours (should be about 10)?

i'm 37 weeks and my baby girl isn't moving much today, so i'm a lil nervous too....(boy is still active)...

i def had days like that. sometimes i would drink cold water, eat an orange, or listen to loud music to get the babies kicking again. :)

Perhaps! I know it scared me pretty bad but I figured since she was still moving she was fine, I was just about to call my midwife when she became active again.

Just a quick inquiry before I call my midwife. I'm 28 weeks 2 days today, and the baby has been very inactive today. A few weak kicks very spaced out. I feel her moving periodically so it's not making me too nervous, but the kicks are nowhere near what they usually are. I'm going to call, but I guess I'm just looking for a little input while I'm on the phone.
