The first time he planned on going home at some point, but he ended up staying because I needed help with the baby. I was really sore and could barely get out of bed the first day and our hospital doesn't have a nursery so the baby is in the room with you the whole time. The girls were well behaved and older 8 &amp; 9. The hospital bed is a double so that mom, SO, and baby can fit... we'll have to see... </p> <p>I am preliminary worrying as we are not yet starting on baby 2... but as long as the hospital allows it we pretty much have to make it work. But again... we have some time... but I am a worrier/ planner. My mom will be here as well because she serves as our doula and we have several friends we can call for a few hours of coverage, so we have a lot of options if MIL can't make it in time for us to leave for the hospital.</p> <p>When DD was born, my mom and DH were at the hospital for her birth and few hours afterward, then my mom went and stayed at our house and DH stayed with me in the hospital. We all know how great hospital sleep is, so the second day my mom stayed with me and DH went home to get a good night's sleep. I thought that worked out really well - I always had someone with me, but DH also got to get a good shower and some quality rest. We already know I'll be having a c-sec. He'll probably stay the first night, and go home the following nights. Reason being - He snores like a train. It's AWFUL. He literally kept me up for two full days after having DS.
