Not a doctor, but it sorts of sound like the way osteomyelitis manifest in a friend's 3 year old. Took a look of tests (and ruling out scary stuff) but they found the infection inside the bone and everything is fine now. But sounds like something that needs to be checked further.

My 7 year old cousin developed a limp and it was later diagnosed (in combination with other symptoms) as leukemia. This does not mean to freak you out but perhaps the doctors can run some more tests.

@Mrsk: Growing pains?? Seems like it would still bother him when crawling. Is he verbal? What does he tell your SIL?

Some sort of splinter or cut on his foot? Or maybe a sore / ingrown toenail?

This is a post about my nephew, SIL is stumped, so im asking the bees! They live out of province so this is all just information I have gathered from her.

My nephew turned 2 last week. 3 days ago he started to have a slight limp which continued. The next day he still had it but they went outside and played and he seemed fine, active and running around. Then yesterday his limo it worse and then by mid day he was crawling around. He refuses to take more than two steps and then will drop to his knees and crawl. He does not show any signs of pain, just the limp and then reverting to crawling.

My SIL took him to the hospital emergency as it was a Sunday and they looked at it and couldn't find anything wrong and sent them home. It is still the same today, two steps at most then crawling, no signs of pain. They went to their family doctor today and she is stumped too and can't find anything wrong. It is storming today and is supposed to tomorrow so they are hoping Thursday they could go get another opinion.

Since he will crawl it can't be something with his knee or hips. It happens whether he has socks, shoes or boots on and will do it undressed as well. It's his right side.

Bees, has anyone experienced this? Is so did it go away? Was there a cause? Anyone else have suggestions? We are totally stumped!
