@Nutella: Same problem here, my toddler loves to sleep on top of me, which means terrible sleep for me.

We started out hand holding, then moving to the door, then outside his room where he can see us. Right now, I sit down outside his room for 10 minutes and he usually passes out. It sucks, but hopefully this phase will pass soon for you.

@Tanjowen: thanks for taking the time to reply!

Ok I'm so glad yours had an end date. It's really doing my head in. But going to try and hold his hand to sleep tonight as I don't like how it's assumed he'll just come into our bed! I sleep so much worse & I think he does too (though he takes up most of the bed in his starfish pose)!

@Nutella: Totally in this phase with our newly turned 2 yo. It really stumped me because he has always gone down happily for naps and bedtime! After 3 weeks he is finally falling asleep on his own for naps and bedtime with just a tiny bit of crying, but we did a lot of hand holding and cosleeping up to this point. We still have a 4-5pm wakeup where he needs to come sleep with mommy, but it is MUCH better. The only thing I can advise is to do what it takes to get him to fall asleep in his own bed - then do whatever works best after that  Hang in there!

@Nutella: So naps...at that time he also began day care, and it took us almost 2 months before he was ready to take the afternoon nap at daycare....he did that alone, but at night, he wanted to be with us.

@looch: Ahhhhh! No! Haha. What about naps though? LO still prefers napping on his own so I'm hoping it's a nighttime phase!

This exact same thing happened to me, more or less exact timing too! We moved overseas, were staying with my parents and all of a sudden, my son began cosleeping with us again. My story though, is that it's continued. He's almost 5, lol.

We stayed with my inlaws for a few nights a couple of weeks back because we were having work done on our house. E goes there three days a week and happily napped there when she used to nap, but bedtimes were a nightmare - exactly as you described. I'm sure your LO will settle down soon. I totally understand how hard this is on you, I was at my wits end!

@Nutella: I want to say two (long!) weeks or so. The first couple of nights that we started her in the big bed were fine then gradually she started getting up more and coming to her door. Finally we made a rule that if she got up we were putting her back in the crib. First she would cry until we put her back in the bed, then she started crying then falling asleep, then she would fall right to sleep, so we just went right back to the crib. Bedtimes those nights were so exhausting. But I'm glad she is still in the crib now!

@Foodnerd81: sounds very similar! It is annoying more than anything...how long did it last in total for you guys? (Or is it still going?!) I do wonder if they can sense change & just freak out...

We had that right before C turned 2. She would just freak out in her crib every night and it was so frustrating! We already had a big bed in there so we started just letting her sleep in the bed in her room instead of the crib, thinking it was time to give up on the crib. That lasted a week or two then she started getting up every time we put her down at night and that was beyond annoying so we started putting her back in the crib if she got up, and eventually we just went back to the crib and she is still in it at 2.5. No big changes like moving in her life and this is way before baby sister was born. It sucked but I guess we just had to ride it out. And the whole time she was still napping fine in he crib.

Hi all. We have been very lucky with. 2yo that has always been happy to sleep in his cot on his own, no dramas...we have recently moved overseas back home, and staying in my parents' house in a new room. Though he's slept there before twice on trips last year, and will happily sleep there during the day. Suddenly my little sleeper has turned into a banshee at night, refusing to go down. He's in there screaming bloody murder for mama Dadda hugs etc, and when I go in, he's standing up and in full tears :crying: breaks my heart! Until he starts giggling & playing once he's in our bed. Though he will quickly settle and go to bed when he's with either of us in our bed. If he's out in the lounge he will run around playing.

He's getting WAY more stimulation here than usual, more people around and is generally less rested. I don't think he's hungry or thirsty as he's not so into food/drink at the moment either (another issue), so it's really just cuddles...

Has anyone else gone through this? It's exhausting as he's all go go go through the day, but I'm not getting the downtime at night now either as he needs us to settle.
Help!! I'm starting to get really annoyed as I'm not well rested and I can only see this snowballing!! :bummed: thank you for any insights...
