@Foodnerd81: Have you looked into something like the BubbleBum? It fits in the middle of our CR-V between two Britax carseats and it's an inexpensive solution for something that will be used temporarily. I don't use ours on long trips or anything but I'm comfortable using it for quick trips around town.

@Foodnerd81: you can check for overlapping seat belts just by buckling them all in and seeing if they cross. If they do cross depending on the severity you may still be able to do three across.

Most high back boosters, all no back boosters, and all adults need head support to the tops of the ears, so make sure the seating position has an adequate head rest. Boosters can be hard to buckle in a three across situation even if it can technically fit.

The car crash detective is super unreliable. It doesn't really look into overlapping belts or headrests. It only looks at the dimensions of your back seat.

http://www.thecarcrashdetective.com/2015/04/3-across-installations-lexus-rx.html/

Looks like the usual suspects will fit 3 across...but I don't know if the author actually physically installed the seats or if she's going by specs...what it looks like on paper can be very different from what happens in the physical space.

ETA: Car seat lady doesn't have the RX listed. She put the LX in the "not tested by IIHS" category and the GX did not meet her buying criteria. http://thecarseatlady.com/2015familyvehiclebuyingguide/

I don't know what year you have, but you could start by looking at those sites...

Does anyone know of you can safely install three car seats in a Lexus RX 350? I know some cars you aren't supposed to have two car seats plus an adult or third seat in the middle and can't find anything specifically about this car.

It wouldn't be for long term, but my 6 year old nephew will be visiting and it would be nice to be able to put his booster seat back their with my two kids car seats and just take one car. And making sure it's safe for me to sit back there on long car trips occasionally.
