Once you commit to potty training, you may literally be in the bathroom every hour. I gave up around 7 because she had a wicked fever and hasn't been eating or drinking much, and I felt like we were getting nowhere. So I put a diaper on her, and somehow she is miraculously improved from her illness, running around, eating and playing. She peed twice and popped once all within half an hour of putting a diaper on her. Then she asked constantly to go pee in the potty (she sat but didn't pee). I think we will try again in the morning. </p> <p>I suggest having lots of paper towel on hand. Lots of underwear. Keep them in the bathroom you're using. Prepare food ahead of time. Have treats for yourself because it is exhausting, and I've found it quite boring and frustrating. Have laundry done ahead of time. Have extra sheets and blankets ready to go for the middle of the night. Prepare your distraction techniques ahead of time (ie "I want a diaper on!", "let's go watch Sesame Street!"). Pee took one day, he got it right away. Poop took about 2 weeks. We chose a 3 day weekend for DD, but she was already going in the potty lots by then and didn't have any accidents all weekend.
