At first they told I didn't pass, then they told me I did. I went over all the numbers and everything was lower, so I did pass!!! Thanks, ladies!!!! :)

my doctor put me on the 2 hr one straight up for the same reasons mentioned above -- the 1 hr one is not reliable enough, and poor moms end up having to endure two tests after all, even if they don't have GD :(

also, don't feel bad if you do end up having GD, i know some super healthy ppl who ended up with GD too -- it didn't have a lot to do with what they ate/weight gain etc :) and all the moms i know who did follow the GD diet ended up crazy healthy and fit at the end of their pregnancies :)

hope the 3 hr test is not too much of a drag! :) good luck!

Aaw, I'm so sorry. You may not even have GD.... but if you do, and if it's any consolation, my GD baby is perfectly healthy, her blood sugars were fine when she was born and she was a teeny tiny 5lb 15oz (not a big baby!) - no C section required! Plus, I loved my GD diet, I've never felt so well!! I only gained 18lb during pregnancy (8lb of that in the first tri, 10lb in the second and none in the third) and, at 11 days post partum I am only 4lb over my pre-pregnancy weight. So, if you do have it, I promise you it really isn't that bad and there are a few of us on here who can support you through it!

Don't blame yourself. I didn't pass the 1 hour or 3 hour for both my pregnancies. It's the hormones, and there is nothing I could have done to prevented GD (trust me, I tried). Your scores are totally within reason, and I'm sure you will pass the 3 hour with no problems.

Same as @Adira. My OB told me that a lot do not pass the 1 hour test which is why he goes straight to a 2 hour test. You didn't miss it by that much so I'm sure you will pass the 3 hour test!

Don't worry! I failed the 1hr and had to do the 2hr a few weeks later and passed with flying colours. Maybe I just had a bad day on the first one, I don't know!

I've heard (and I don't know how accurate this is) that MOST people fail the 1 hour test. My OB doesn't even do it - we have a 2 hour test instead. I'm sure you'll pass the 3 hour one!! :)

@Jennimac: After your test tomorrow, eat all the lovely carbs you want, just in case you have it. I miss ice cream so, so much right now.

***hugs***

It threw me off too. I had gained weight, but I ate fairly well and was completely blindsided by having to take the 3-hour test. I thought maybe it was because I had eaten horribly leading up to the 1-hour (it was Independence Day weekend; we ate out all the time), so I ate normally leading up to the 3-hour. I don't know what your office's policy is, but mine is that if you fail 1 blood draw, you fail the whole thing. I know other people have passed at different offices having failed 1 blood draw.

My numbers were 149 at the 1-hour and then 75, 168, 164, and 123 at the 3-hour. I failed the second hour (164; they like it to be under 150).

I failed the one hour test by A LOT. Like enough that they almost had my bypass the 3-hr and just diagnose me. But I passed the 3 hour, and hopefully you will too!

@Jennimac: I felt the same way when I was told I needed the 3 hour. On the one hour I got a 136 and they wanted closer to 130. I passed my 3 hour. My doctor thought the issue might be that I wasn't eating sugar or carbs so the drink really was hard for me. I was told to load up on carbs and/or sugar for the 48 hours before the test. Weird but I did.

Well, my doctor's office finally called me and I didn't pass the 1 hour test. My fasting was 84 and after the 1 hour test my blood sugar level was 158. They like it to be below 140. So, now I go in tomorrow morning to get this test done. I'm just so mad and upset and I know it's not my fault, but I feel so mad. It's just put a funk on my whole day. I wish there were symptoms to know this would happen! I feel great, haven't gained any weight, eat fairly well----I just don't get it. Grrr.
