I can pee/drink 2 pounds.
Don't worry about the one moment of weighing....observe the overall trend.

Yes. My clinic told me to worry about 3lbs in a day.
All my 2nd tri I put on around 3lb/week (seriously every week in tri 2) and they say I'm fine. Haven't put on much since 27 or 28 weeks though now.

You are certainly not alone...I think that there were three of us talking about it over on WB who were between 34-36 weeks and had a serious gain over those two weeks that was totally abnormal.

At my last appointment, 34 weeks, I had gained 8lbs!! I was totally freaked. I mentioned to my midwife that my shower was just a few days before and she said that's common. The food that you generally eat at a shower is really salty and you may not drink enough water. In my case, it was the fact that my Mom came into town, we took her out for chinese food on Friday night, and then had the shower on Sunday where I ate A LOT of chips and dip.

Did you have any days where you ate things out of the ordinary and retained a lot of water? That could certainly be it!

Towards the end you retain a lot of water, so I wouldn't be too worried.

@jennylynn: Oh that makes more sense : ) But yea, I think weight gain/fluctuations are normal - also at this stage, it could be bloating/water weight.

Do you mean you are almost 30 weeks?

I have had really random weight gain - some weeks, no gain or like 1/2 a pound, and then a few weeks I've gained 3 pounds. One month I gained 7 lbs! I stopped weighing myself in between appointments around 25 weeks because I felt like I was reading too much into it. Also sometimes I would weigh myself at the gym and I would be up 2 pounds in a day, and then back down the next day. I think it all evens out in the end though : )

Pregnancy weight gain is so all over the place, it can be very difficult to look at on a week to week basis. Too many changes happening all at once in your body. I personally found it easier to average things out over the course of a month rather than looking from week to week.

I'm almost 35 weeks pregnant, and I gained 3 lbs this week! Is this normal? I've been steadily gaining around 1/2-1 lb a week before this, and I may have eaten a little more than normal this week ,but nothing that should account for 3 lbs!
