Mine just did this a minute ago. His are usually low and very sad sounding. Sometimes I go in and put my hand on his chest and he settles down, and sometimes it just passes.

My DD used to sleep scream; it was really upsetting for me since we couldn't usually wake her during the screaming session. At some point she just grew out of it (around 4 months maybe?).

My LO who is 8 months old still does this. It's a really sad cry...My DH jokes and says that he's having nightmares of breasts running away.

Sometimes he laughs in his sleep and maybe he's dreaming about running in a field of breasts!

Could be a nightmare, although some nightmares will actually wake them up too. And yes, they certainly can have nightmares this young.

My LO is 7 weeks and she will sometimes do one quick high pitched cry in her sleep. But nothing prolonged. I probably wouldn't worry since whatever it is isn't bothering your LO enough to wake her up.

My dd was sound asleep and all of a sudden she would start crying. This cry is nothing I've heard before, it's very high pitched. I thought she was in pain but she was crying in her sleep. I read that it could be nightmares or growing pains.

Does anyone know why some babies cry in their sleep?

Does your LO do this?
