@Pancakes: I know what you mean - no two nights are the same for us either! Friends and family reassure me that it will get better and that he will eventually sleep for longer stretches. Hang in there!

@miramira: sometimes she'll sleep on me for like an hour after (usually bc I'm so tired myself that I doze off too, while holding her in the rocker) but she still wakes up, especially if it's the first part of the night.

The last 2 nights haven't been quite as bad. I tried putting her in the Woombie last night but she woke up after 10 mins and then I spent the next 2 hours trying to put her back down. Once she finally went to sleep she slept from 11-4 so that was pretty good. I'm always afraid to find out what the night will bring, though!

Ours woke up every 1.5-2 hours for about a week, then went back to doing a slightly longer stretch during the first part of the night. It was hellish for me, but I tried to keep sane by reminding myself that he was probably in the middle of some kind of neurological development. Sleeping in stretches of 3-4 hours is pretty good for a 3-month-old, though!

How long do you let her sleep on you after nursing her to sleep? I find that I have to let mine sleep on me for a good 10-15 minutes or more so that he enters a deeper sleep (when those little arms go limp) and is less likely to come out of it after being put down in his crib.

@Pancakes: yes, we used the merlin when we couldn't swaddle anymore. I got mine off eBay because I didn't want to pay full price. Someone on here may have it too. I'm not sure exactly how much it helped, but I was desperate for anything. As far as the next goes, one of the did it and that's where I got the idea from. I can't remember who exactly. .. maybe someone else week be able to help with that. Basically, I rolled a towel in a U shape to fit her so she was snuggly and put it under the fitted sheet. I was able to nurse her to sleep, but it was definitely getting more difficult at that age. It didn't get significantly better until she was about 5.5 months though. :( Let me know if you have other questions! I'll try to help if I can. And if I can remember!

@abbydabbydoodlebug: she is swaddled in the crib, but she's starting to break out of her miracle blanket so I think we may have to stop using it. Tell me more about this nest! We are also transitioning from the RnP and I think she liked being so snug in there but we were having other issues with it.

We had the same problem until we did some sleep training at 9 weeks. Now, we can put her in her crib sleepy or lightly asleep and she'll sleep in her crib. Perhaps you want to consider some training? My LO had really horrible sleep, but it's better now. I can't even believe I'm saying it because when I was going through it, I thought I wasn't going to survive.

@Pancakes: we just got the Merlin Sleepsuit, and I wouldn't suggest it for a three month old if she sleeps OK being swaddled. We are using it to ease the transition from swaddle to sleep sack for our 4 month old. She can still move her hands around and sometimes she smacks herself in the face with them :)

We let our LO fuss for about 15 minutes but she does get progressively LESS agitated so that may not work if yours gets more agitated.

@Pancakes: no there was no miracle product for us. Things worked until the didnt. I'm not exaggerating when I say we had almost every sleep product or swaddle on the market.

But if the swing had ever worked for her, I totally would have used it at that age! She just never liked it at all, like she fell asleep in it one time, with me laying in the hardwood floor in her room next to her, then me being afraid to get up off the floor and leave because she was facing the door and I thought the light from the hall would wake her.

Yeah... It does really get better!!

DD 2 will be 4m right before Christmas so I'm thinking about transitioning her from swing to crib then. I'm askeered.

It's either just deal with all the crap sleep at once or keep the the swing to help with a potential 4m regression.. M

Are you swaddling your LO in the crib? I swaddled mine in the miracle blanket when she was around that age in a nest I made. We were moving from the rock n play to crib so I wanted to make her feel secure in the big crib. We used the merlin after she started breaking out of the swaddle. Anyway, that whole time was a blur until we sleep trained at 5.5 months. We also started light sleep training then I think. Just keyring her fuss/ cry for 5-10 min and trying to put her down drowsy but awake. I'm not sure if this helps or not, but I hope you get rest soon!

@Foodnerd81: Ugh, there is no way I can survive a month of this! I ended up putting her in the swing sometime after 3 am and sleeping on the couch, because even after I'd been holding her for an hour she would scream bloody murder the instant I set her in the crib. While I was holding her as she slept I was searching HB and found a thread about the baby Merlin magic sleep suit...I see that it didn't work for your LO. Was there any sort of sleep thing that did? I'm hesitant to shell out $40 for something that might not work, but I really need sleep!

@Pancakes: That was us at 3 months. It was brutal (though I didn't also have a toddler to deal with, so it must be even harder!) Nothing really worked until we did CIO for falling asleep closer to 4 months.

But the things that helped some- bouncing on the exercise ball in her room, instead of standing and rocking her (less tiring), and holding her for a solid 20 minutes after I thought she was asleep, so make sure she was really really really asleep before I put her down.

Good luck. I hope it gets better soon! The upside is that 3 month sleep was so bad I never noticed a 4 month regression. Is that an upside?

We had to transition our 13-week-old to her crib last week for various reasons and it has been hell. Every night it takes me 1-3 hours to get her to sleep and then she doesn't sleep for more than 3-4 hours, if I'm lucky. Previously she had slept in 6-7 hour stretches, though not consistently. I've tried letting her cry for a few minutes before going back in to comfort her (something I had done when she was still sleeping in the RnP), but she just gets more and more agitated. Even if I try nursing to sleep, she often wakes up as soon as I set her down. Last night she was up every 1-2 hours. I welcome any and all suggestions! Between her and my preschooler wanting to come in my bed every night I'm soo exhausted!
