@csross217: Good luck, hopefully earlier naptime does the trick! Rubbing the eyes is actually a sign of her being overtired. I remember not being able to tell really so it was kind of just trial and error figuring out what her max awake time should be.

@Mrs. Pickle: @KT326: @csross217: cluster feeding is going on right now. DS will sleep for a tiny while and then want to eat again. I donxt consider him fighting a nap. Its more so he's just not full enough for a long stretch.

@csross217: yes, I would. Cluster feeding is really common the first few weeks. It's tough! Sometimes I would think there's no way DD could really want to eat again, but she would.

@csross217: We had a lot of cluster feeding at that age. From 2-4 weeks I felt like all I did was nurse! But mine was also a really sleepy nurser so one session took forever since I had to keep waking him up.

Honestly, I think at this point it just just a matter of whatever works for mom and baby. If she is rooting after eating she could just be comfort sucking, not really eating. We had a lot of that too.

@Mrs. Pickle: A lot of the time DD will root right after I've finished nursing her... would you nurse again in that case?

@csross217: oh at that age I would nurse DD any time she rooted and she would fall asleep on me while eating. I spent a lot of time on the couch.

@petitenoisette: @Mrs. Lion: We're trying this today! She's sleeping well right now in her swing. I do think she's been staying up too long, but it's hard to tell when she's getting aleepy! She doesn't really rub her eyes much or anything.

@catlady: @Jackiedavis87: @Mrs. Pickle: @Mrs. Lemon-Lime: She'll sleep sometimes when we hold her, but it's hit or miss. A lot of the time she'll just root on me if I try to have her sleep on my chest! DH usually has better luck but I feel bad that she doesn't sleep well on me

Sounds like you are missing her window and she is overtired. Try putting her down for her nap about 15 minutes sooner. This was the trick for both of my kiddos. :)

naps can be really tough. even if you try everything, it's just tough for most babies to nap, and to nap for a decent amount of time. how about the carrier? even if she doesn't fall asleep, anything to keep her calm and you guys sane is what i would recommend.

We're still holding our 3.5 week old for naps & night time sleeping. I change him before I feed him because changing him makes him too alert. Right after feeding he gets burped and soothed with back rubbing. That usually does the trick. If he still fusses a lap or two around the house singing to him knocks him out. All that being said he's usually happily awake 2-3 times a day after a feeding.

Can you hold her? Week 3-6 was one huge growth spurt and fussy period for DD. Someone usually held her for all of her naps during those week.

I do still hold DD for at least one nap a day at 7 months... but that's because I like it! She sleeps on her own with no problems.

I second having her sleep on you. With that being said I have a 5 month old who still sleeps on me for naps soooo 😐. Also what really works if you haven't tried it is white noise, I just use an app on my phone or iPad.

At that age, our LO would only sleep on us or in the stroller. She didn't like the swing until she was around 5 or 6 weeks.

Try to put her down sooner? I remember at that age I couldn't believe how much she slept. But it sounds like she might be overtired by the time you put her down.

My 3 week old has been fighting naps for the last week or so. She'll be awake and happy for about 45 minutes at a time during the day. When we notice she's getting tired we'll try to put her to sleep but she's just fuss and cry for another hour or so! Sometimes she'll nap for an hour after this, but usually it's just 15 minutes of sleep and she's up crying again

Any tips on putting her down for naps during the day?? We tried the swing, pacifier, swaddling etc. and nothing is working! She sleeps well at night swaddled in her swing...
