@CObee: We do the exact same thing! One night of not waking up gets a sticker and a week of stickers gets a toy car on the weekend! LOL! Working thus far!

We’ve been having the same kind of problem with my 3.5 year old waking us up a few times a night for unimportant reasons. We just implemented a sticker chart at the beginning of this week - one sticker for each night he stays in bed and doesn’t call for us, five stickers get him a trip to the store to pick out a hot wheels car. Kid hit 5 nights in a row and very happily got his hot wheel yesterday :) it was way too easy but the boy loves his cars! :silly:

@bhbee: @Jess1483: He has skipped naps a few times and sometimes he gets irritable if he didn't sleep well the night before and it didn't help with his night wakenings.

I will try shortening his nap time to 1 hour and see how that goes.

He usually stays in bed playing quietly with his brother when he wakes up at 6 AM until his ok to wake clock turns green. Wish he did that at 3 AM :silly:

@bhbee: this was my first thought, too. My son did the same at 2.5. I didn’t realize until I checked his video monitor at night when nursing his new brother that he would be up for 1-2 hours in the middle of the night (he didn’t come in, just laid there because of his ok to wake clock). Once we cut the nap, he started sleeping much better. He just didn’t have enough sleep debt.

My first thought was should you drop the nap or at least try it ... that is very kid dependent but it’s a thought. My oldest slept fine at night with a nap, but when bedtime started getting super late at 3.5 we dropped it and she started sleeping 12h at night. My middle was ready to drop around 3 because his bedtime was so awful. It definitely helped ... we dreaded the 2 days he napped at preschool because it made bedtime so awful. He’s never been a good sleeper and also went through wakeup phases. I’m not sure it will fix the overnight stuff, but it might at least switch things up which sometimes is enough. Good luck I sympathize with you!!

Eta you don’t have to completely drop the nap either ... you could start waking him up sooner than 1.5 hours. Even 30m might get him through the day and then hopefully that time adds into restful nighttime sleep. Hopefully if he’s at daycare your provider will work with you, but I know they often want them to nap.

My 3 year old is waking multiple times at night. It started about two months ago but I cant take it anymore!

He sleeps with my older son (6) in a trundle bed and slept just fine until recently. He wakes up around 11 PM and comes into our room asking for his blanket. We take him back to his room, put his blanket on and go back to our room. Around 3 AM he wakes up again and at 4 AM again. He is up at 6 AM for the day and wakes his brother up.

He takes one nap from 1:30-3:00 PM. We start our bedtime routine around 7 PM (books, songs, hugs and kisses). Once we put him to bed, he takes a while to settle down delaying bedtime by saying he is hot, cold, wants water, etc. He ends up going to bed by 8:30 PM.

I feel that he is not getting enough sleep with the multiple wakeups at night and early wakeups in the morning and could also be affecting his brother's sleep. They have a sound machine and an ok to wake clock.

I've never had any issues with sleep with his brother, but this one is more needy and clingy.

Any suggestions?? Help!
