I was 100% effaced for two weeks before my water broke, and 2.5cm dilated.

@TurtleDoves: Eek! I'm hoping she cooks in there for at LEAST another week or 2!

@chopsuey119: Oh wow that's frustrating! Thank goodness this is our first baby, because we have no family in town (closest ones are 5 1/2 hours away!). My mom's planning on coming in to help me once she's born, but I think she's planning on next month , not THIS month...

@smocks: I was 3cm and 75% at 36 weeks
3cm and 90% at 37 til 39wk4days.
I rearranged my entire schedule because I thought he was coming early! -.-
We actually went in at 39w4dys because my mom was due to leave 2 days later and we needed someone to watch my dd while we were at the hospital. I was also in super pain and wanted him out!

I'd say not long! My OB told me effacement is a much better indicator than dilation. @Running Elley was like 60% or something at her 36w appointment and she had her LO at 38 or 39 weeks.
I was 25% effaced at 36 and I went to 40w. I was like 60% effaced at my 39w appointment.
I was 90% effaced when I got admitted into L&D and my labor was 8h long after that.

So I just got back from my 36 week appt, where my OB did my first cervical check. I'm 2cm dilated, and 80% effaced. I know this means things could be imminent, or I could be weeks away from labor. I haven't had any contractions, BH or otherwise, at this point.

Anyone have stories of how long it took for you to go into labor when you were dilating/effacing? I'll be packing my hospital bag tonight just in case.
