I was 2cm at 36 weeks. My water broke at 39 weeks and when I walked into the hospital I still hadn't felt a single contraction but i was 7cm.

My SIL walked around at 5-6cm for almost 4 weeks. It was her 5th kid, though, so we kept joking that babe was just going to fall out.

@ZombieBullfrogHoller: I had DS in 4 hours (from start to baby)! Was 3-4cm when I got to the hospital. My OB had to break my water, but once he did baby was out in less than 2 hours.

I was 4-5 cm at 33 weeks and had the baby at 36 weeks. It made for a quick and relatively easy labor for me :)

I would definitely try and get the stuff done you want done cause you never know.

Ooh, that gives me hope! Everytime I start having contractions I panic and think "Oh shit, here we go!" Then they stop and I think of all the laundry that needs doing. XD

I was fine last week because the doctor was like, "Ooh, you could be 2cm dilated for weeeeeeks - doesn't mean a thing." But this week this doctor was like, "Well since this is your first pregnancy and you're progressing so quickly, it could be pretttty soon!" And I just sat there like O____O and he was like "...uh, yeah, congrats?" And I'm still O_____O

Oy. I've had people say to me, "Well, at least when you do go into labor, you're already part of the way there!" and that the getting to 4cm was the longest part of their labor, so maybe I'll progress quicker. Did you find that to be true?

I would get your loose ends tied but generally pre-labor progress is NOT determinant of when labor when start or how labor will progress, at all. ;)

So, at my appointment last week (which, because of crazy insurance reasons, was my first appointment since like June 1st - egads) the doctor told me I was 2 cm dilated and 50% effaced. Yesterday I went in for my appointment and was told I was 3-4cm dilated.

Now I'm panicking! haha. I don't have nearly everything done that I need to get done. And I'm sooo miserable with this heatwave. I'm absolutely useless. And mean. My poor, poor husband D:

Is it common to be dilated this much before going into labor? If anyone was, how much longer until you did go into labor? I wish I knew how much more time I had - I think that's the worst part :P
