my guy did this basically from birth to about 4 months. bicycle legs and other gas-relief things helped some, but didnt take it away. annoyingly, time was really the best medicine.

We had the same thing and I took a video to show my ped. They said it was normal. I did use gripe water when he seemed particularly uncomfortable and it helped a bit. If he didn't wake up from it then I mostly just left him but I never slept through it-he was so loud!! I think he outgrew it about 6-8 weeks. Does he have other reflux symptoms as well?

i agree that if it's reflux, hopefully the meds will kick in soon. have you tried putting the crib on an incline (putting a few books under one end)?

my first LO did a version of this, however it was screaming and crying at 4am because of gas. unfortunately the only thing that worked was time. hate that answer.

Oh I remember those noisy nights. My LO was grunting loudly over and over throughout the night for her first few months and I never knew what the best thing was to do about it. I ended up just picking her up and nursing her every time and she would settle down. I worried I was creating a bad sleep association but honestly everything changed so completely and quickly that by the time we were worried about nighttime sleep, it wasn't really an issue anymore. If my next baby is similarly noisy, I will probably A) stress about it less, and then either B) put her in a crib in her own room much earlier so the grunting doesn't wake me up, or C) just do the same thing I did before and nurse her every time. It worked out fine and she was STTN reliably by like 4 or 5 months.

If he has reflux and has only been on meds a week, give it a couple more weeks. It took about 3 for us to really see a difference. After that, it was like we had a new baby. Of course we had to go to the dr once a month to get his dosage adjusted since its weight based. But he was so much more comfortable on meds.
As for night time, my LO tummy slept so I don't have much advice for you :(

Every night like clockwork starting between 3:00-3:30am DS (5.5 weeks) becomes incredibly restless and grunts and squirms non-stop, sometimes for 1-2 hours. He doesn't really want to eat (although sometimes he does) and he never fully wakes up, but he seems SO uncomfortable. I'm sure it's some sort of indigestion problem and he's currently on medicine for reflux (started one week ago), but I feel so helpless! I've tried burping him, doing bicycle kicks, etc, but nothing really works. I've heard of others going through this and their babies grow out of it after a while (sometimes up to 3 months!), but I'd love to hear from anyone who has gone through something similar and any advice about calming babe down.
