Most places say the best time for a 3D ultrasound is between wekk 26 and week 28. If its done too early the baby looks a bit freaky due to not having enough fat on their body , and if its done too late its unpredictable they may not get to see the face due to the baby being so cramped and not moving around as much

Well, you have to pay for the 3d one but your insurance should pay for a regular ultrasound at the 20 week mark. Also, you may get an internal u/s at your first OB appointment if you haven't had that already.

We had them at every visit starting at 12 weeks, but thats standard procedure for my OB. Plus I was higher risk, so I ahd extras done every 2-4 weeks. But I think typically its between 18 and 30 weeks that they say you get the best view. We got some INCREDIBLE ones at 20 weeks. They ca focus on the face but still get the whole body.

I didn't. Couldn't afford it since we had to buy everything else for the baby.

I am currently 8w6d. At what point do you get to have a 3D sonogram to see the baby?
