Only took five months from when we potty trained and three months since this post, but FINALLY!!!!</p> <p>He was definitely trying to hold it and didn't want to go on the potty, but he was really struggling to hold it in and was just whining and miserable, so I was like "Let's just try! Come on! Let's go!" So he reluctantly raced with me to the potty and sat down, whimpering the whole time. I was like "Just try to fart and you might feel better!" so he did and then he started peeing and then he pooped!!! He cried during it, but I think he was just kind of scared. After, he looked down and was like in awe or something. I just kept saying "You did it, Logan!!! You pooped in the potty!!! I'm so proud of you!!!" And then he kind of caught on to my excitement about it and was like "I pooped in the potty!! Just like Dada and Mama and Xander!" Prune pouches, prune juice, and lots of liquids to try to flush out her system a bit since she was holding it and making herself constipated. I wanted him to go when he felt the urge, not hold because he didn't have a pull-up on. He was in daycare full time, so they really weren't equipped to be able to change him into a pull-up at a moment's notice also. I feel like she holds it for an assortment of reasons (too busy playing/doesn't want to stop, doesn't want to go at school, just doesn't want to go) and it then causes it to be painful so then she holds it bc of that! We tried to hold out, but no amount of bribing or even the occasional threat made him want to even try to poop on the potty. I took a VERY casual approach to it, which probably isn't the popular method, but worked for our busy lifestyle. He started to hold and was getting constipated, so I put him back in pull-ups to wait it out. I was lucky that he didn't really revert to peeing in the pull-up. He would hide to go poop, so I would ask him every time if he wanted to try the potty. He always said no... until the day he said yes. He never had an accident after that, he just decided when he was ready. He likes to squat while he pooped so the doctor recommended getting a stool with a handle so he could basically squat over the toilet. It worked for him. But the whole thing just seemed to traumatize him! He cried before, during, and after and was just shaking with tears! Then he refused to even sit on the potty for days and just had accident after accident. We backed off him and added bribery to get him to go back to peeing on the potty, but he hasn't sat on the potty to poop since. He would hold his poop and beg for a diaper at nap time. Eventually we just said no. No nap until you poop. He was running around begging and we kept putting him on the toilet and finally he went. He repeated the drama for a few days at the same time and eventually got less dramatic. </p> <p>I'd say for a month or a bit more though he didn't want to go. He wouldn't do it in a diaper any more, but would deny having to go and lie on the ground to avoid crapping himself until we finally convinced him it was time to try. </p> <p>He's a pro now ;) </p>
