The D&amp;C went as it should and I was lucky to have kind and compassionate medical staff who never lost sight of the fact that this was our baby, not just some tissue to be removed. My OB's last words to me before I went under were 'I'll find you some answers". I know that might not be medically possible, but the sentiment was reassuring. </p> <p>We're definitely not done with getting testing, and will explore every avenue. We're lucky to live in Australia, so our testing so far has been 100% free, and for the rest we have coverage from our private health fund. Since the baby did in fact have a chromosomal abnormality, we were tested (karyotyping) and found that I carry a balanced translocation between chromosomes 18 and 20.<br /> I know that the doc told you that was unlikely since you already have a healthy LO, but that's not a 100% indicator that nothing is wrong. You honestly could have gotten lucky the first time with a healthy LO and now the odds have been against you.<br /> Obviously I'm playing devils advocate, as it is true that it's unlikely. But fwiw, my docs told me that a translocation was unlikely as well, just because it is pretty rare. But here I sit, 2-3 days from my first IVF retrieval! The good news is that if you have a translocation, IVF with PGD is an option. It's not easy and still not a guarantee, but my odds of a healthy pregnancy without IVF/PGD are something like 5%.</p> <p>I hope your D&amp;C went well today (as well as it can) and you take the time you need to heal. It is the worst kind of hell.<br /> We did, in fact, lost 6 pregnancies in the course of 15 months. Two of them were chemical, one was ectopic, and two were carried to 12 and 16 weeks. We also lost a vanishing triplet at 9 weeks but were finally able to carry our twins to near-term (36 weeks.<br /> The D&amp;C's are the worst, I think...you leave with a bottle of Advil, when that's truly the last thing you want. I would really recommend taking whatever time you need to heal, then - when you're physically and emotionally ready to start trying again, make an appointment with a reproductive endocrinologist. In most cases, your insurance will cover all of the "diagnosis" parts of their treatments...if they recommend something like IUI or IVF, though, you're probably on your own. I'm also thinking of getting a complete blood panel done to check for anything abnormally high that might be due to environmental exposure (long shot, but why not?). My OB was a bit shell shocked yesterday after the ultrasound. I have a feeling she might refer me to an RE, and I'll ask her about this post procedure. I was also put on baby aspirin, progesterone, and ate gluten-free while TTC for this little one. I don't know if any of it helped, but I strongly suspect that the HSG did, as I bled quite a lot after it. I am now 22 weeks.</p> <p>I'm so sorry that you still don't have any answers. I had two in a row and my dr sent me in for karyotype and chromosome testing, plus checked a bunch of my blood stuff (hemoglobin and some other stuff I think) and they found a blood clotting disorder that was causing issues. Has your husband been tested? I have a 2 year old, had two losses this year, blood panel showed no issues, and am now 15 weeks pregnant with what tests show to be a genetically healthy little boy (fingers crossed). I have a friend who has a 5 year old, suffered 4 miscarriages (tests showed no issues) and she now has a three month old healthy baby girl. She felt like the difference maker was acupuncture and I was willing to do anything not to go through another loss. I did accupuncture weekly while TTC and during the first trimester. I also did baby aspirin and progesterone. I will never know why I had the other losses and why this pregnancy appears to be working, but I am glad I did the acupuncture. Your acupuncturist can also help with stress and anxiety which are common feelings when TTC after multiple losses. It would be worthwhile to see an RE, though in my friends case which is quite similar to yours, they said IVF with pregenetic testing was the course of action (she got her sticky baby on her own the next cycle). In my limited research and experience, your problem is treated differently since you have proven you can have a healthy baby. Then she got pregnant with him on pregnancy #5 and everything was just perfect! I had one loss prior to getting pregnant, but my mom had a lot of losses. She got pregnant with me fairly easily, but she had 6 miscarriages after me, including a very large (3 month gestation) ectopic pregnancy. She ended up losing a tube during that D&amp;C. With all of that in mind, my parents eventually conceived my brother. She never received any kind of testing or treatment (in the 80s there wasn't a whole lot that they did for that kind of thing). They basically just told her to keep trying. Hopefully you can see an RE who will be able to give you some insight. If you're already seeing one, a second opinion never hurts. </p> <p>I'm so sorry for your losses. I can't imagine how difficult that must be. I should be 10 weeks along. At 7 weeks 2 days this baby had a heartbeat of 170 bpm. I go in for a D&amp;C tomorrow. This is my 4th miscarriage in 12 months. I know DH and I can have healthy children - we have an almost 4 yo DD (a surprise baby). I've had the repeat pregnancy loss blood panel and it came back completely normal. I was on progesterone and baby aspirin throughout this pregnancy. I cut out caffeine, I took my prenatals, I avoided high risk foods, I avoided BPA packaging wherever humanly possible, we didn't have sex, I avoided strenuous activity. I have never smoked, I don't drink and I've never touched drugs. I had autoimmune problems shortly after the birth of my daughter, but the tests for those issues came up negative in the RPL panel. I am 25, my husband is 29. We're healthy, and taking out recent events should not be at increased risk for miscarriage. </p> <p>So there's the background. I just don't know how to make sense of this! Have any of you gone through this and had a healthy pregnancy afterwards? Do you know anyone in this situation that had success? What treatments were pursued? What underlying problems were discovered? Google cannot help me - every article states "no need to worry, there's nothing wrong with you unless you've had 3 or more back to back MCs". Well guess what google- here I am at 4, and I'm worried! I can't find any information relevant to my situation.</p> <p>My OB will examine the baby for chromosomal abnormalities but I'm not sure what happens after that.
