I vote both. My LO was a drooling fool starting at 4 months, and now at 9 months, it still continues. The first tooth didn't pop through until 6 months!

Do you use Hyland's Teething Tablets? We gave them to him at nap times on bad days and it seemed to help. For example, we could tell that he was having bad teething pain the past week, so he got tablets at every nap time and a few doses of Tylenol when he was super fussy/upset.

It might be worth asking your pediatrician their thoughts on the tablets and see if they help at all. Hope the nap situation improves soon!

I agree that it's pretty futile trying to figure babies out. They are mysteries. At least mine are. My older son drooled for a while before teeth came out. His bad days also never coincided with anything I could figure out. I just told myself everyone has bad days, even babies. I also gave him a bit of Tylenol. I figured it couldn't hurt and I didn't do it all the time.

@Mae: Yeah, i'm guilty for googling symptoms. It gets me nowhere! I am also guilty of giving a shot of Tylenol when I don't know what else to do. As long as it's not ALL the time, it's ok to do.

@Lindsay05: I keep saying I'm going to stop trying to solve her problems and just rude then out but it's SO hard. Today's dilemma was whether to give Tylenol. I did, and her next nap was maybe 30% better. So it's like... Did it help? Or fluke?? I don't know!

Honestly. I have 2, and I still can't read what's going on. Babies are hard to figure out. I don't know my LOs are actually teething until there is an actual tooth there because they exhibit the same symptoms, when they are growing, sick, or developing. I'm sorry you are dealing with this and hope your LO gets on track soon.

Your little stinker is so cute!

I couldn't really give you a timeline per se....it's been off and on for a while I guess.

Nap fighting has been going strong for the last 4-5 days. Yesterday was so bad with so much crying that I was having newborn flashbacks. Night sleep has been rocky since just before 4 months with some breaks for good nights.

I think the drooling and toy chewing has been the longest. The waterworks turned on at exactly 3 months and have not stopped. A little girl at the library yesterday described my LO as "dripping." Haha. Pretty accurate. I have read that those things are both teething and developmental...like exploring their worlds via mouth.

He has taken his naps today though with minimal tears so I'm feeling a lot more zen about it....I really do believe it's developmental but it's hard to believe that it can go on for so long? (And then I think, of course it can. He is learning and growing at a crazy fast pace.) Babies, man. Who knows.

ya, no teeth here and we are doing the same thing. Like, I could basically have written this myself. My LO is five months. I dunno. I have been driving myself crazy trying to figure it out. We're all pretty worn out by it.

Soooo yeah. Here's hoping we both catch a break soon.

As concisely as possible (LO is 17 weeks now):

Until 13 weeks LO was an amazing rockstar sleeper. STTN, 3-4 one or two hr naps/day. Set her down awake but drowsy an she slept in 5 min.

Then she needed to be rocked to sleep.

Then she started getting up 1-2 times/night

Then she started getting up 4-10 times/night

Then she started whining/crying at nap/bed time when we tried to rock her to sleep (but if you set her down she cries harder) but would usually set in 5-10 min.

All thats fine... sounds pretty typical 4 mo regression from what Ive heard.

But-- LO has been super drooly since 5 weeks but the last week has been INSANE. Like keep a bib on her 24/7 or her shirt is soaked in 10 min. Also she's liked chewing on things for a few weeks but the last week she like, GNAWS really hard on everything. And she sort of whines while she does it, but then cries if you take it away. She's been a bit fussier than normal while awake. Then she gets tired (clear tired signals, rubbing eyes/yawning like she's always done) and when I try to put her to sleep she sobs. She doesn't want to eat (she eats right before naps, which is compounding this problem), she doesn't want her binky. She chomps chomps and tries to chew on her paci or the bottle but not suck, and then she gets angry and screaaaaaams. And I can't always get her settled anymore. The last two days she's had only 2 naps (rather than normal 4) and has wound up overtired and somewhat inconsolable. It's so sad. Once she's asleep she sleeps for a long time as long as you watch her-- at around 30-45 min after she falls asleep she stirs and you have to replace her binky or rock her back to sleep then she sleeps 1.5-2hrs.

So something is definitely going on and it doesn't feel like JUST 4mo regression anymore bc of all the chewing and the SOBBING instead of just fussing at bed time. Thoughts?
