@SweetiePie: I am keeping everything (routine) the same as you did as well! Hopefully this is just a phase and he will go back to sleeping throughout the night! Last night he seemed to do better and only kept stirring a bit around 12:30, 3:30, and then 5:00 am then went back down for an hour until feeding time. Fingers crossed and I have your experience and it only lasts a few weeks!

@ChiCalGoBee: It so does suck! He went down last night at normal bed time after bath and seemed to stay down but kept stirring throughout the whole night. If he pops his pacifier out he won't stop moving around until he gets it back. It feels like a never ending cycle!

@Astro Bee: We (safe) co-sleep early in the morning on his back in the swaddle. It seems to be the only thing that gets him back to sleep after the bottle.

@paigeface: sounds like the 4-month regression that is an absolute, absolute beast. For me it was worse than newborn days because as a newborn I expected it and he would settle back down, but at 4 months he would be up for hours in the middle of the night. The only thing I can really offer is that it SUCKS, you WILL get through it, and be kind to yourself and your baby! I googled and found this post when my son was going through it and found it helpful: http://www.mannlymama.com/2012/12/wonder-week-19-aka-4-month-sleep-regression/. FWIW, my son had been STTN prior to the regression and got back to STTN by about 6 months, but it was definitely hard. Hang in there!

Happened to my first - slept through the night from 2-5 months, then stopped and went back to tons and tons of wakeups. Took a while before she started sleeping longer spurts.

Yes! Right around 4 months. (Actually it was last Christmas when I was home with my parents, as I am now!) And to really rub salt in the wound, it happened after the FIRST night he slept 12 hours straight. What a tease! It was BRUTAL but it only lasted a week or two. He went back to his normal 5am wakeup and then we did sleep training to get him to a normal 6/6:30 am wakeup.
I just remained consistent and without doing much he just stopped waking so much. It was something like this (this isn't exact, but it gives an idea of just how quickly it came and went!):

Bedtime is 7pm, for reference.

Night one: slept 7pm to 5am, back down till 7am (had been doing this a while)
Night 2: slept 7pm to 7am. Yay!
Night 3: woke at midnight, 2am, 4am, 6am
Night 4: woke at 11pm, 1am, 3am, 5am, 7am
Night 5: woke at 10pm, midnight, 2am, 4am, 6am
Night 6 - 9: woke at 9pm, 11pm, 1am, 3am, 5am, 7am
Night 10: woke at midnight, 2am, 4am, 6am
Night 11 - 12: woke at 2am, 5am, 7am
Night 13: woke at 3am, 6am
Night 14: woke at 5am, back down to 7am
Then we started sleep training.

So, as you can see, it was like the crazy newborn switch was flipped for about 2 weeks but it did slowly get better then all of the sudden it was as if it never happened.
We hadn't night-fed for weeks until those wakings. I didn't know what else to do, I started giving small bottles (like 3 oz) at those wakings because nothing else could console him back to sleep and I was miserable. The weaning we did was to get rid of the small bottle we had "regressed" back to.
If you don't mind creating new habits to get through it (rocking, holding for sleep, cosleeping) then by all means do what you have to do! I personally didn't want to create any beyond a small bottle so I still did everything else the same and I was glad that there wasn't much to "break" when he finally got back on track.

Good luck, I know just how brutal it is, especially when you've been getting good sleep and it's suddenly disrupted!

What you're describing is almost exactly what my older child did...we ended up doing some gentle-ish sleep training at 6 months to get to 1-2 wake ups per night (let cry for up to 10-15 min of it was before midnight)...at 11 months we did a final round of sleep training that got us to sleeping through the night reliably again. My youngest is now nearly 5 months and is going through it something awful...up every 1-2 hours, although he's back asleep within 10-20 min. I'm trying everything I can think of short of cry it out since I'm not super comfortable with that at this age.

We dealt with this starting at 4 months. (Safe) Co-sleeping is the only thing that kept us sane. Now at almost 9 months we have started sleep training. He has slept 8-10 hrs each night the last week before crying, being fed, and going back for another couple of hours until 6:30-7:00. I really hope he keeps it up! Good luck to you! Not sleeping is sooo tough.

Hi ladies! hope you all had an amazing Christmas with your beautiful families. I'm pretty exhausted to say the least. My LO since 2 months starting sleeping through the night about 10-12 hours. It's been glorious. His naps don't last very long, anywhere from 40mins to an hour but I didn't complain since he's been sleeping through the night. He's exactly 4 months today and for the last week he has been the WORST sleeper and eater. It is like he is a newborn all over again and it's been rough. He's been up every few hours through the night and he's been so fussy. before he goes down for naps he screams for 10-20 minutes straight no matter
what and is inconsolable. Has anyone dealt with this around 4 months? any suggestions?

xo!!!!
