@MrsRoo: We had the teething monster around here last week too! Awful times. No teeth yet.. maybe they were just moving around but it was def teething since the only thing that helped in the end was the Hylands tablets. I am just like you and hoped for longer, my friends baby got his first at 9mths and I was perfectly happy for that to be us!

Sleep is improving round here. She has slept till 6am twice now!!! There are still nights she wakes at 1 or 3 and a particularly fun night of 10 and 3. She has gotten LOUD this week which makes putting her down after a feed fun so hopefully she is phasing them out. haha

@AprilFool: oh no! We transitioned LO into her crib the same way, although we weren't dealing with a regression on top of it. We put her down in the crib, then when she woke I'd feed her and bring her back into our room. She eventually just started sleeping longer stretches in the crib and we could put her back in here after a feeding and she wouldn't cry. She slept straight through to 5 am? That's good!

Ugh, my LO is still waking a few times a night. They are all running together, so I don't even remember which nights she sleeps more vs which nights she's up constantly, lol! I think last night she was up at 12, 3:30, and then 7.

I noticed last night that she has a shiny white lump on her gum. How is it time to teeth already!?! That definitely explains a lot of her fussy pants behavior, but I truly (nievely?) thought I had til 6 months before teething. I'm not ready! :(

@MrsRoo: So it has not being going great! Haha I thought the first night wa going to go well, was just about to put her back in the cot after a feed when DH came in and spoke and she was wide awake. Had to bring her into bed with us to settle her. The 2nd she woke at 10!!! The next night at 2 and 4 :( After that we decided she would sleep until she woke in the cot and then go back into the basinet after her feed and hope that she would slowly sleep longer, which fingers crossed, seems to be working. She slept on her own until 5 this morning.

How is your LO doing? Still at 3 wake ups?

@sylvie_b: I'll have to look into the sleep easy solution. I'm open to sleep training, but I'm still (nievely?) hoping she will just go back to being a good sleeper on her own! Good luck, let us know how it goes.

@AprilFool: yea, we're coming up on the one week mark, so I hope it stops soon! Last night was a 3 wake up night. Good luck with the move to her big girl room! I hope it goes well for you tonight. Come back and let me know :)

@MrsRoo: Back to one wakeup last night so the night before might of been a fluke. We had the 2 wake ups for about a week so hopefully they don't last too long for you!

Tonight is LO's first night in her big girl room. She has been beside the bed in her basinet until now but she has outgrown it. If LO is sleeping better in the rnp then I would leave her there until she is over these wake ups. I was avoiding moving LO until her sleep got better. Will see how it goes tonight.... am a little nervous! LO still at 2 wakeups?

@MrsRoo: I feel you on the excessive wake ups, mama. DS was up almost every hour this week and it broke my heart because he'd be so upset/tired when he woke up....all he wanted was sleep. :(
so, we started sleep training (sleepeasy solution) last night (thursday). The first night was so hard, but in the end I think it will be so worth it if our baby can feel rested every night.

@AprilFool: that's awesome! Fingers crossed LOs sleep stays that way for you!

We seem to be sticking with a 12:30 and 5am wake up, but she's also back in the RnP in our room. When I put her down in the crib she gives me 2-3 hour stretches max. I'm worried I'm ruining her ability do sleep in the crib, but I need sleep so I'll cross that bridge when we come to it!

Is your LO in a separate room?

@MrsRoo: Thanks for checking in! We had a fabulous night on friday. We were out at a birthday thing and she went down about 9:45 and slept till 6:30am!!! I couldn't believe it. Sadly.. Sat and Sun were back to a 12 and 5 wakeup. Mon was only a 3am wakeup and last night was 1 and 5 but she had really bad naps yesterday so I am blaming that. Luckily there are some glimmers of hope in there because I am so totally a zombie atm. How is your little one doing?

@mrsroo we just didn't have a terrible regression with LO up every hour like some people experience. maybe people with worse regressions get cut some slack and it only lasts 1-2 weeks? :)

Prior to regression, LO was up only once a night to eat. During it, she was up 2 or 3 times (then right back down easily), going to bed was harder, and she was way more inconsistent when she got up. Oh, and her naps went to crap and stayed that way until 8 months, when we just switched her to one.

3.5 months and I think we are going through this now. My little lady was STTN in her crib for weeks! Now she's up constantly and I feel lucky to get a 3 hour stretch. Nice to see that 1-2 weeks seems to be the norm.

Ours started at 4 months on the nose and lasted awhile -- a month maybe? I just went with it and fed her whenever she woke up because she seemed hungry, even if I knew that she had gone longer without eating previously. LO was pretty easy in that she dropped her night feeding(s) on her own and was STTN by 9 months, although with a couple regressions when teething.

I think it was around 5.5 months that we did our first bout of "sleep training", since the 4 month regression seemed to mess up her ability to go down at bedtime and over a month later, we were kinda sick of it. I hesitate to really call it that, since her angry fussing was just on-and-off for about 10 minutes the first night before she figured it out.

I agree with @Kemma , I would nurse. I read that it's because they're going through a major development stage at 4 months, so they need the extra fuel!!!

@AprilFool: Sleep regressions are usually caused by developmental progress so it's perfectly normal that your LO would need an extra feed at night to help fuel all her new skills!

Please don't feel like feeding her is the end of the world or setting you up for problems in the future because she's just a wee poppet and sucking / nursing is such a soothing and comforting action for her.

Fwiw we dodged the four month regression but ran smack into the six month regression which has now run into the nine month regression!

We've been going through it for about a month. His sleep is finally getting better now. He had been going 9-5 beforehand. Then during regression was waking 3-5 times a night or more. Last few days have been generally better with 1-2 wakes. I soothe him when I can but feed if he's inconsolable. I think i read the regression can be 1-5 weeks depending on the child.

Our little guy turned 4 months a week ago and - boom - hello sleep regression. He used to sleep 4-6 hr stretches since he was born and now he became hard to put down for the night (would wake up as we put him down 2-3x before he finally slept) and would wake himself up every 1-3 hours, depending on the night. He's a little more hungry than before so i give him 1 extra feeding at night (10pm, 1am & 4am) Oh, and he's teething. Good times!

Since the regression started last week, it has now, 7 days later, gotten easier for him to go to sleep and he's now sleeping 3-4 hour stretches again for the most part. But we've decided that it's time for our little guy to move to his own room (he's in a mini arms reach in our room) and sleep training will start in 1-2 weeks.

Hope your LO's sleep gets better soon!

We started the 4 month sleep regression at 3.5 months, and it lasted about 2 weeks. He was also sick at the time too, so I think it lasted longer for us... I think a week might be the norm for this regression? Not sure.

Anyway, prior to the regression he was sleeping from 8-4 am... and had dropped his 11 pm feeding. Once the regression hit, that feeding came back into the picture. Because I knew it was the 4-month sleep regression and that "this too shall pass" I just dealt with it. I fed him at both the 11 pm feeding, and the 4 am feeding... he was also sick and teething so I just did whatever I could to comfort him through that time and dealt with the wake-ups.

A little after the 4-month mark, he dropped that 11 pm feeding again and went back to his normal routine and then some! He's 5.5 months now and has been sleeping from 8-6 am most nights for the last month or so!

some people recommend waiting 15-20 minutes before going in to see if your baby falls back asleep on his/her own. i did this with my LO and he usually settled down, but not always, and i know 15-20 minutes in the middle of the night can feel much longer!

LO is 4months old today and has always been a pretty good sleeper. She used to sleep 7:30 - feed at 2- till 7. The last few nights she has woken at midnight and then again around 4 or 5. Both times she wakes she is cranky and acts like she is starving so I feed her but I know she can go longer and I am worried about feeding her every time she wakes. Should I try and get her to go back to sleep at the first waking?

How long did the regression last for you and how did you cope? If it keeps up we might have to go sleep in the other room so DH can get some sleep!!
