This was bad for us. T was STTN before this hit so it was a big adjustment. It resolved on its own. How we handled it was we put him in his crib for bed around 7 and he would wake up for the first time around 10 or 11. DH would go get him and lay him in bed with me (he moved to the couch) and Id nurse him and we'd both fall back asleep while he was nursing. He'd wake up 2 hours later and Id help him latch and go back to sleep. Repeat until it was morning. It wasn't fool proof and some nights it just wouldn't work, but we survived.

Co-sleeping may not be the best answer for some (DH gave me up the road about how we weren't going to get him back in his crib), but I still slept most of the night and felt fine and not stressed. We always put him in his crib when he first went to sleep so eventually he just stopped waking up at night (until he went through another regression) and sleeping in his crib.

Now he won't cosleep at all. I kind of miss it. Lol

It sounds like those who experienced the 4 month regression had it for a month or longer? Oh goodness. Why does baby sleep suck so much?!?

Ugh, sounds like it, unfortunately. It was pure hell for us. She was never a good sleeper, so we were all like, she can't regress, its already bad! haha, joke was on us. She was waking every 45 minutes-1.5 hours and we either had to nurse or rock her to sleep. Rocking took HOURS, and then she wouldn't let us set her down. We had not sleep trained yet, but this regression is what lead us to sleep train around 5.5 months old. Many babies go through it and it doesn't affect them as much, and they go back to the way they were sleeping. I hope this is the case for you! Honestly though, with a regression, I don't think there is much you can do but ride it out. It sucks.

We're in the middle of it...we've been dealing with it for 2 weeks now...it's awful!!! No advice - just commiserating. I do have to say though, we haven't been letting him fuss because he's legitimately hungry. He gulps food at each waking...whereas before I was getting 11 hour stretches without any wakeups or feedings...so I feel better knowing he really needs it and it isn't him just being a jerk ;)

This is a pretty long sleep regression. Unfortunately. My son skipped it thank god. Most of the babies in my sons group went back to sleeping well on their own. I personally don't sleep train that young so I wouldn't really do anything different. That's kind of young for CIO in my opinion. But it could be a month long, that was the normal for his other baby buddies.

Sounds like it to me. My LO went from STTN to waking up every hour or so, to some nights not letting me set her down at all. We had not trained before this so there was no "re-training." She did get somewhat better on her own. I can't remember how long it took, at least a couple weeks, maybe a month. She never went back to STTN but went back to sleeping the first 4-5 hours then waking up every hour or two but just needing her paci, which was at least a quick fix. But then she got worse again at 6 months and we gave up and sleep trained at that point.

This one was the worst for us....so so bad. And of course, coincided with returning to work, heh. We used the merlin magic sleep suit because she was rolling in the swaddle, and it helped for about a month or so....we ended up having to sleep train closer to 6 months because she never grew out of it. But yeah, E would just wake up every few hours and cry and cry and was so hard to get back to sleep.

My 4 month old has been doing pretty well with sleep except the past 3 days. She goes down easily, and used to wake only 1x in the MOTN, but now it's been 3-4 times. Sometimes she will go back to sleep after 5-10 mins of crying, but most times I need to nurse her back to sleep. Is this the 4 month sleep regression? Did you need to retrain, or did it resolve on its own? I also wonder if it could be because we dropped her last nap? I'm not sure what to do. My head is so foggy from tiredness.

ETA: Did it affect naps as well?
