ay yi yi the 4 month sleep regression was a nightmare. Except ours was going from 10 hours a night to waking every 2-3. Brutal. My thought was this - I got her to sleep without nursing most of the times. There was always one time during the night that she was genuinely hungry, so I fed her for that one. She eventually only woke up for the one feeding, then she dropped it altogether by herself not too much longer.

@Thehistoryofus: has it right too - at 4 months, they are becoming much more aware and active during the day, and the new skills wake them up at night.

Does she go right back to sleep? You could use this as an opportunity to sleep train, or you could give in and feed her the one time and put her right back down. Just be sure to keep the feeding session boring, dark, and quiet so she doesnt start to associate it with fun times

I know its hard. But it does pass, I promise =o)

I think the 4 month night time feeding can be due to them being more active and distracted during feedings during the day.

My LO is going through her 4 month sleep regression as well but she went from sleeping 8-10 hours at a time to 5 or 6. I would LOVE to have 7 hours right now. Haha

But I have been wondering the same thing about creating a middle-of-the-night-feeding habit.... I really hope "it's just a phase" and she"ll go back to sleeping like she did before.

Sorry! I hope she starts sleeping long stretches again! We haven't hit 4 months yet, but I hope DD doesn't start waking again!

I think LO is going through her 4 month sleep regression. She went from sleeping 10-12 hours to 7-9 hours. I have been feeding her when she wakes at night and I'm wondering if I am creating a middle of the night feeding habit. (Coincidentally, she started waking up a day or two after I stopped the 2am pump session, so still waking up in the middle of the night!) I'm looking forward to her 10-12 hour sleep stretches again!

What was your LO's 4 month sleep like?
