Started maybe a week before 4 months, and at 5.5 months we are still having trouble :-( but, my lo has never been a great sleeper prior to regression she had a 2 week period where she would do 1 5-7 hour stretch followed by up every 1-2 hours after that. that was her best sleep.

lasted about a month and coincided with arrival of first TWO teeth (at 4 months - FML). ended with a painful session of cry it out, for my sanity, which now has things mostly back to normal. Hang in there!!!

Ours lasted for about 1.5 months. Basically taking twice as long to go down and wake ups every 1-2 hours. At its height refusing to go back in her crib. It wa ROuGh.
We tried CIO a few times and even teething tablets. Hit or miss. Basically had to ride it out.

DD turned 4 months a week ago and my perfect little swaddled sleeper is long gone. She wakes up every hour :( I have no advice, just sympathy. We had to sto swaddling and we put her in a sleep sack.

1)He usually only woke up once a night but started waking up 4-5 times a night. Coincidentally, it was also around this time that I went back to work. Thanks kid!

2)It lasted for about 3-4 weeks

3)There really wasn't much I could do except wait it out. He returned to his normal sleep schedule and mama got some much needed rest.

Good luck!

My very awesome baby STTN at 7 weeks, then stopped at 5 months. She also really changed the way she slept - much lighter and easier to wake up. She never ever went back to sleeping through the night. We're currently trying to night wean, which has meant that daddy goes down when she wakes (once) and spends the rest of the night snuggling with her in her floor bed. Hopefully that'll turn into her just STTN eventually, but at least I'm not up half the night nursing.

Ugh. BRUTAL. Livs lasted about a month. We had to sleep train during this time. She would wake every two hours, wouldnt nap, screamed bloody murder. It was awful. We moved her bedtime up by like half an hour and finally Id had enough and did a modified CIO.

She spent the entire month from 4-5 regressing as it were. More frequent night waking, eating more often, fussy for naps and sleep. We ended up spending a lot of time co-bedding for my sanity. At five months she suddenly became a good sleeper, was ready to not be swaddled and then a month later started sleeping through the night.

I can't say for sure because we may be nearing the tail end, but I think it lasted about a month. It started with an outright refusal of naps. Then she started waking several times a night.

@betsyboop: Well, I think they probably are teething, but teething takes months! Apparently babies "teeth" for awhile before they actually cut a tooth!

@winniebee: Is the drooling just normal at this age? I wonder just how much they will drool when they're actually teething?!

@betsyboop: I hate to say it, but my LO has been drooling like MAD and grawing on everything since 4 months....he's 5 months and no teeth yet. Your situation sounds like classic regression : (

It went on for 4 weeks. Started at 14 weeks and lasted until DS was like 18 weeks. Mostly, it was extra night wakes, fighting sleep going down at night, and the dreaded 30 minute nap. So, at 16 weeks we transitioned him to his crib. At 18 weeks we unswaddled him. A week later, he started sleeping through the night again (sleeps 7-9 hours and then wakes for a feed and goes back to sleep for a few more). Once we unswaddled him, we also let him cry a little before going to sleep whereas before we would go in and soothe or give him more milk every time he cried. He still sometimes cries a little before sleep but it's usually no more than 5 minutes. He will be 5 months in 2 days and still is a horrible napper and only naps 30 minutes. Sigh.

1. I think we may still be in it? It's hard to tell. LO has never been a great napper but she recently started crying when we would put her down for naps, and would sometimes only sleep for 10 or 15 minutes. Bedtime used to be a breeze but these days it takes about 5 or 6 pacifier resets before she can fall asleep, and every other night she'll wake up every 2 or 3 hours needing a pacifier replacement. Last night she needed 1. But recently she was STTN so this is an unwelcome change for us :(

2. This has been going on for almost 2 weeks. LO is 4.5 months.

3. Can't help you here!

I too am confused about whether or not my LO is teething. She has started drooling a TON the last few days and will have these random crying outbursts maybe twice a day. She's been sucking on her hand but I don't see any teeth or swollen gums yet. I really want to sleep train but don't really want to do it while she's teething.

Hope your lo (and you!) can get some sleep soon!

Honesty ... it didn't. I hear so much about it but lo slept 12 hours straight since. 2 1/2 months. Thank goodness she didn't get the memo that she was supposed to stop at 4 months.

Last Friday LO turned 15 weeks old and all the sudden, stopped sleeping at night. She's fighting sleep, cries bloody murder until I stand her up on my legs and then she immediately starts smiling and bouncing up and down. It's been like this all weekend. She's also been attacking our knuckles and her teethers, so it may be a combination of teething and the normal regression, I can't be sure. She slept at 6am last night, er this morning!

1) How did the infamous 4 month sleep regression affect your LO?
2) How long did it last?
3) What did you do to help things go back to normal?

Thank you!
