She told us what she recommended but to trust my instinct and watch his cues. She told us to skip rice cereal but that oatmeal was good because of the iron. We ended up starting oatmeal around 5 months and purees around 6 months. Our pediatrician didn't even mention anything about waiting until 6 months. I found out about that on my own obsessive online research! I decided to wait until closer to 6 months based on that. Our pediatrician also thinks it's a bad idea to skip rice cereal and oatmeal. Eh, I gave that to DD twice and I've moved on to fruit and veggie purees.
