My DH and his middle brother are only 2 years apart and not nearly as close as the younger two. Growing up we fought because I always wanted to be included in his things but I was really too young. And as teenagers of course we didn't get along. We did used to wis we were closer in age so we could have done more things together and had more mutual friends but it hasn't hurt our relationship at all (and I have always gotten along with her much better than with my 3 year younger sister who I was in high school with). I think it's much more personality than age gap. Meanwhile, my brother and I are closer in age (just over three years), but we do not have a close relationship at all, and never have. We became closer once he was college age. But that may be because we were different sexes too. I always felt like it was too far apart a gap. I always said I didn't want my kids to remember life before siblings. I remember him coming home and not being at all impressed - lol. But once again our personalities may have been a big factor. </p> <p>I can't speak about my own kids because I wanted them close together.
