I would love to take a long weekend trip to Iceland - we've always wanted a shot at seeing the northern lights - but I'm not sure whether we would be able to get family to watch the LO, as we're already using them to cover daycare breaks (the daycare we chose for next year has SO MANY breaks and professional days...) It was our first vacation alone since our daughter was born, and we had a great time.</p> <p>For my 40th, we're going on a big trip with my family (including kids) that will include a cruise and a day at Magic Kingdom. Honestly, I'd rather do something more like what we did for my husband's birthday, but this is just how it worked out. I am excited to take our daughter to Disney for the first time. She will have just turned 3, and I think it will be magical for her.</p> <p>Our 5th wedding anniversary is also this year. Originally, we thought about going back to the resort where we went on our honeymoon. However, with one big trip already planned and some expensive repairs to our house that came up unexpectedly, we had to scale that trip back. He picked out the music so we could dance. This is totally his thing so he really liked it. We also took off work the day before to wander around the city and catch a concert.</p> <p>Mine is coming up soon. I don't like parties, so hopefully it'll just be us and the kids. We won't make any definite plans other then "going out somewhere," so no one else can just decide to pop in. For my 40th I’d love a mini trip to NYC. We would go to an art gallery &amp; “splurge” on a piece. We would go see a play and do some touristy things I have never done like the Statute of Liberty. Lots of spa treatments. My bday weekend is also our anniversary weekend, so I have shot at this happening. </p> <p>DH’s ideal birthday is probably a Marvel movie marathon with his favorite foods. All of his best friends live far away, so I'm hoping to use the occasion for a reunion. I haven't quite figured out how/where to accommodate everyone but I've got a few ideas- maybe renting a tent for the party at my parents house where there is a lot of land, and encouraging camping. I'm not sure I can afford a venue AND catering, so I'd likely do that kind of a thing and then hire someone to roast a pig or bring a food truck or something.</p> <p>I'd also like a party for myself, but I'm thinking something smaller with close friends- like a fancy dinner out and a couple hotel rooms so that we can drink. I'd like to be able to host my friends, instead of asking them to pay.</p> <p>I've also been dreaming about our 10 year wedding anniversary which is in 4 years. I kind of wish we had. He LOVES having people over, entertaining, socializing, etc. and he would just love something like that at our house. </p> <p>We have a 2 year old and I'm about to give birth to baby #2, so it's kind of on the backburner now. I just feel like there is no way I can get my house cleaned up, get everything together to host people, etc. </p> <p>More than anything I'd love a kid free vacation (or even a weekend trip!) but unfortunately, we don't have family that are able or willing to watch our kids for that long, so I see that never happening :crying: I'm so jealous of people who can do that. How do you plan to celebrate your next milestone birthday and or your S/O’s next big milestone?</p> <p>My DH and I are 2 years away from our 10th anniversary and 40th birthdays. We dream about going back to Hawaii (sans kids), Spain, or Italy. I’m not sure we can swing that expense, but I hope to go somewhere with him that year. </p> <p>My parents want to throw us a party, so maybe in the summer (it’s between DH and my birthday) we can have a swim party at my parent’s house. They have a nice yard/pool and we could invite our closest friends/ family. </p>
