Have you tried nursing her under a nursing cover? I find that when I nurse my LO under a nursing cover he'll eat longer. I don't at home and that's when he's the most distracted b/c his big brother keeps coming over to hug him. He always turns his head to look while latched on (ouch!). I usually just rub his head and move his head back towards me to continue nursing. But he's been going no more than 10 mins on each side a 5 months. He's not fussy afterwards and still eats between 3-5 hours so I think he's getting enough.

Have you tried putting a nursing cover on so she can't see you? Noises and movement might still distract her but maybe it's something to try?

@LAGS: I can't talk or anything either now, but I find he is most on-the-job when I feed him before naps.

It get's better. DD still gets distracted but not as bad and when this all started. I know that we nurse enough in a 24 hour period to not worry about her intake or my supply though. lol

I've tried the dark room thing but find regardless she still turns her head either to look at me, or turns her face closer to the boppy which in turn breaks her latch.

Its gotten to the point where I can't talk, eat, drink or really do anything while I nurse or she'll stop to watch me. At first it was cute haha but now its becoming a little frustrating

We did a week of pretty much reverse cycling bc nothing I tried helped.... She ate best when she was half asleep. Lol

As long as you aren't denying feeding (like at night) lo WILL get the needed calories throughout the day, it just may not be during the "day". Lol

Trying nursing in a dark room or with white noise may help too, dd was fascinated with looking toward the window so it didn't matter how quite or dark it was, she's still turn. Lol

Have you tried feeding her in a dark/quiet room? DS is a champ eater, but DD used to get really distracted. Feeding her in a quiet room away from all distractions helped a lot.

Lately I've been noticing that my LO is super distracted while nursing. It's been going on a little while now and it's (I think) leading to a few minor issues.

First, she's getting impatient for my let down and the issue kind of snowballs because she wont stay latched long enough to stimulate it. I have to keep switching breasts just to keep her focus and then I worry that I'm not fully emptying each breast. It really has me worried about its effects on my supply.

I'm also beginning to wonder if her distraction is leading her to eat small amounts at each feeding. She's nursing as often as every 1.5hrs during the day which is more often than when she was a newborn.

How did you deal with a distracted nurser, and any tips on getting longer stretches between feedings??
