@LadyDi: Yeah, they sort of can get their hands into their mouth with it, and also the Zipadee :-/ def best to wait til the holidays are over. We trained him at the end of June and my summer was sort of ruined by the enormous stress of sticking to his ridiculously rigid schedule. Best of luck and always reach out with questions!!

@pachamama: I remember your posts about this, I’ll go look at them again. I think we’ll end up waiting until 6 months anyway because the holidays are so all over the place that I don’t want to try to train him until we can be consistent every night. With arms up swaddle could your LO get his hands in his mouth? Part of the reason we still have him swaddled is because he sucks on his hands SO much (his fingers are raw from it) but it keeps him awake so the swaddle keeps his hands away from his face.

You can check out my previous posts about sleep training, we went through it. It was terrible!!!! 😵 But it worked!!😲 You babe sounds just like mine, sooooo many wakings before 11, then he'd sleep pretty well.
I would wait til 6 months. We did it at 5.5 and it didn't stick as well as it should have, plus developmentally I think he was young. I worry it was traumatic (well, he cried for 3.5 hours and we had to "retrain" like 5 times, but he never cried more than an hour ever again.... So it was traumatic)
Yeah get him out of the swaddle- we did the Zipadee for ds1 and Love to Dream arms up swaddl for my 2nd. Arms Up was awesome!!
I would 1000000% recommend CIO but please know it could potentially be very upsetting for you. You have to be very, very determined and strong. I'm still not over it but we had to sleep. !!

@LadyDi: Following! You know my LO2 is almost 4 months old. I know she will need some MOTN feedings but I am looking to do the same when she is the same age hopefully....

Someone talk to me about sleep training. This is my 3rd child and I didn’t really have to consider this for the first two.

DS3 will be 5 months old on Wednesday. Prior to 4 months he was STTN and his naps were pretty good. Mostly around 30 minutes and one big nap (1-2 hours) in the afternoon. Since the 4 month sleep regression his naps are never longer than 25-30 minutes and it’s obvious he’s still tired. As soon as I pick him up he’ll fall back asleep but the second I put him back down his eyes pop back open.

At night he goes to bed between 7:30-8 then he’s usually up every hour on the hour until 11 or so, then I’ll feed him and he usually sleeps until 4am, I’ll feed him again and he sleeps until 6:30.

The nighttime schedule isn’t awful and I don’t kind a MOTN feed if he needs it, but it’s very obvious to me that he can’t self soothe back to sleep. Especially for naps. So, is 5 months too young to sleep train? I use white noise and he’s still swaddled. I know I need to cut the swaddle out too. How do I do this? I don’t want it to escalate to the point that I can never put him down at night.
