@tarabonno: So glad sleep is going better for your DD - and for you! Sounds like we may just need to hang in there a little longer - and get acquainted with some sleep training techniques in the meantime, just in case. You've given me a good dose of hope, THANKS!

@CakeLady: funny you should ask.... She turned six months last week and I swear it's like she's a new baby. She is only getting up once now and we could probably get her to skip that one. Our pediatrician recommended we do CIO which I was very opposed to, but after she got up 6 times in one night I was desperate. So I braced myself for the worst and she fussed (never even screamed) for 2 min and 9 sec and then fell asleep. We started letting her do the same when she woke up at night and she got herself settled without an issue. I will say that she isn't waking up screaming like someone cut a limb off anymore, and I don't know if this would have worked a few weeks ago. Hang in there... There is a light at the end of the tunnel!!!

@tarabonno: curious about how things are going now. I hope better! I am going through the same thing with my 5 month old. wondering if things have improved and if you did anything that you think helped the situation.

@tarabonno: You aren't crazy. Baby's sleep changes after 4 months, which causes the 4 month sleep regression. I think a lot of parents sleep train because of it. I don't have any good advice for you - I just keep nursing at night. But you definitely aren't crazy.

@tarabonno: my daughter did this from 4.5-6.5 months. Then one night just went back to her 1 sometimes 2 wake ups. There's a big developmental leap around that age, as well as their changing sleep cycles. Hang in there, so what you gotta do to survive. It will get better soon!

My kid does the same thing. It's been off and on since he was just about 4 months. It's pretty weird.

Is she working on any developmental milestones? Mine has been flying through some big gross motor changes, and I'm thinking that's our cause. He's 6 months now, and we are definitely getting better sleep, but it's inconsistent still.

There is a growth spurt around 6 months too, so perhaps you're seeing that as well? I feel like I was always second guessing whether he is really hungry or not because like your LO, he had gone the full night before without eating. I added an extra meal of solids, but he's not eating that much food that I can be sure it made a difference. I think we just got through it. But he still eats once per night.

@Dandelion - even if he is screaming?? I try to nurse as a last resort but she just screams and screams. It is seriously bizarre. She does eat like she's hungry when I feed her, but after going so long as such an amazing sleeper I can't imagine she really needs to eat?

What you're describing was how we survived the first few weeks of this.... we would just put her paci back in and she went right back to sleep. No biggie in terms of our sleep. It's the longer wake-ups now that are killing us!

M was doing this around that time I started using a paci, since I know that he can go through the night without getting hungry. I just get up, put it in his mouth, rub his back, and he falls back asleep. I'll only nurse him if his eyes are open.

Looking for some sleep help! Our DD is 5 and a half months old (24 weeks). She has always been a great sleeper - 3-4 hours even as a newborn and was sleeping through the night consistently at 12 weeks for 10+ hours at a time.

The past 6 weeks have been a disaster. She gets up 3-4 times a night. Sometimes every 3 hours, sometimes every 1.5 hours. She "wakes up" screaming bloody murder and the only thing that will soothe her is nursing. I say "wakes up" because she doesn't actually seem to be awake? We call it her zombie screams.

Aside from the fact that we are exhausted, I really count on a big morning pump session to have enough milk for her at daycare. Feeding her constantly throughout the night is making that really hard.

A few things to know that might be helpful as you give advice:
-She's exclusively breastfed.
-It's been happening for 6+ weeks, so not a growth spurt?
-No evidence of teeth in her mouth. We gave her tylenol before bed last night and it didn't help at all.
-She is able to fall asleep drowsy but awake when we first put her down and for naps.
-She mostly sleeps in her crib but sometimes in the Rock and Play when she's congested.
-We moved from swaddling to sleep sacks about a week ago figuring that if her sleep was crap we may as well make the transition when we're already awake. She seems to be doing okay with it?

Any advice would be appreciated!!
