Thank you all for responding and reassuring me! Funny enough yesterday he was talking and babbling again like crazy - and with new sounds (he's got a new high pitched scream too! :silly: ) I think you all are right and that he was just working on something else.

My LO definitely goes through phases with his vocalizations. Some days (or several days) he's squealing a lot. Some days he does a sing-song voice. Some days he does a ton of raspberries :silly: I think it's normal.

Sounds like he's just concentrating his efforts elsewhere.. It's hard not to worry, but it sounds like you are a very attentive mama. He'll be back at it soon!

My five month old also has days, or periods of time where she's super quiet. I think its totally normal. I'm a pretty quiet person, and I think she just has moods and days where she's not quite as chatty.

LO IS probably working on something else. The teeth will pop through or LO will start rolling or scooting like crazy and then the babbling will come back.

Sounds like a Wonder Week for sure! My little guy is 4.5 months so we haven't hit that one yet, but it certainly sounds like that's what's happening. When my daughter was working on a new skill, it seemed like that's where all of her energy went.

So my LO has been acting different the last two days and my husband and I are little concerned. We called our pediatrician but they just said to keep an eye on it. He seems to have regressed a bit with his speech. He was super verbal and now doesn't really want to talk. If he does say something its super quiet now and not as loud as before. He is teething quite a bit because he’s drooling like a water faucet and shoving everything in his mouth. Even cries like he is irritated with his mouth. The wonder weeks app said that today he I going through a new leap and can seem like he has "regressed." Yesterday, at the very end of the day he starting putting his feet in his mouth and found his privates in the bathtub so I'm wondering if he's just allocating and that's why he's not verbal? He is still smiling at us and reaching for everything and even putting our hands in his mouth. My husband did try to get his attention this morning but he just wanted to stare at the lamp and anything but my husband. Whooo long story... so have any of you moms dealt with something similar? Can teething cause them to not babble as much?

Thanks!
