Can you get a Graco Nautilus? You can use the 5 point harness up to 65 pounds, then it converts into a booster up to 100 pounds.

@lamariniere: It's the same here: no market. The sales lady told us to basically just get the booster because we'll eventually need one anyway. The new big Britax (w/ Isofix) isn't even available here, like what @looch: recommended, I'd have to order through Germany.

But we don't take the car much ... I think we'll just skip the convertible all together and go straight to the booster. I'm feeling uneasy. DD is sometimes great on the bus (with a seat belt) but there's times when she's trying to stand on the seat.

I'm leaning towards the Recaro Monza Nova 2. Looks comfy.

@lamariniere: Yep, that was my logic as well. If we were doing a long road trip, I would have looked for other options, but given the amount of time we were actually in the car, I made the decision to use the belted booster.

@looch: I think I would be a lot more worried about it if we were in the car more. If you add it all up, my kids ride in cars maybe 2-3 weeks out of the whole year.

Gosh this is tough! I wish I were in a position to ask my sister in law what she's used.

How often are you in the car? I recently had my son in a belted booster while in Europe and the main issue was that the seat was installed behind the passenger and he kept leaning over into the middle to see cars on the road in front of us so I don't trust him to sit straight and be in a good position if he falls asleep. But we were not in the car for long periods and at night, so I made peace with it and sat in the back with him while reminding him to sit straight.

They really aren't in the market where I am. Admittedly, we only went to two shops to look at car seats in person so my son could try them, but the high backed booster was the only option for the weight range.

Eta: we ended up buying online because it was much cheaper.

@Kemma: Surprisingly, Swedish car seats for 4+ are all high back boosters without a 5-point harness. Britax just launched a new one that goes up to 25 kg - the Avansafix, but we don't have ISOfix in our car

I'm coming to terms with just getting a high back booster ... unless someone can recommend something similar to the Avansafix without ISOfix.

Can you have a look at some of the Swedish Britax seats? They might have slightly higher limits...

DD has outgrown her Britax Hi-Way II. I don't feel comfortable in having her use a high back booster and would much rather prefer a seat with a 5-point harness.

I've gotten some good advice from the ladies in my last post and found some convertible car seats that will strap her in for a little longer before converting it to a booster. But all of them recommend taking the straps off at 18 kg / 40 lbs and LO is about 40 lbs?!! Help!

These are the ones I've been looking at:

- Britax Avansafix II Sict (5-pt harness up to 25 kg - would be perfect, but we don't have ISOFIX)
- Britiax Evolva 1-2-3 Plus (5-pt harness up to 18 kg)
- Kiddy Guardian Pro 2 (protective shield limit at 18 kg)
- Recaro Young Sport Hero (5-pt harness up to 18 kg)

Help!

Note: I'm in the EU.
