I'm really happy about the 5 year age gap because DS is so independent, like you said, and he'll have kindergarten and summer camps to keep him busy. He is actually pretty helpful too in these last few weeks of pregnancy with bringing me glasses of water or fetching stuff for me while I'm a beached whale on the couch! I don't know if much has changed in the last 5 years. My second is 5 weeks now. The age gap has been great, so far. My first is pretty independent and has been a really great help. I'm really liking the age difference so far. </p> <p>We also were starting from scratch. We had purged most baby stuff years ago.<br /> But I think because I've done this before, I didn't get hung up on all the new stuff out there. I kept if simple because I realized babies need diapers/wipes, a place to sleep, clothes, car seat and that's it. I feel like so much has changed in the baby world. We still have cloth diapers from when my son used them, but I have no idea of what the current baby trends are. My husband and I went to a baby store to look around the other day, and we were kinda intimidated by all of the new high tech things that are out there now. Please tell me that we are not alone. lol </p>
